What film did you watch last night?

Platoon

First thing you notice is the star-studded cast, lots of high profile actors, some at the start of their careers and others nearer the middle. The film gets across the often grisly details of the Vietnam war from the perspective of a 19 year old soldier (Charlie Sheen). The relationships that build up between the characters are short and start subtly, but build up to various climaxes, which I can't say much more without spoiling it. It's certainly a rewarding, and somewhat taxing (emotionally) watch, but compared to some other war movies, it still lacks a fundamental grit, appearing almost light hearted in a few scenes. This works well for balance, but I was slightly disappointed at the end, it felt like it came too quickly. Overall, it lives up to its great reputation and it WELL worth a watch if you haven't already.

8/10

Dom Zły, a Polish movie. Too slow, too boring, too depressing. Ultimately pointless. :o

I have started watching Blake's 7 and I'm loving it! The wobbly sets, the laughable "futuristic technology" and the hilarious model spaceships are totally eclipsed by the outstanding characters and solid, believable plots. Takes me all the way back to my childhood. :)

I've pleasantly surprised by some of the more interesting cinematography. The close-ups of Jenna's backside are particularly well done, and remarkably frequent. ;)

*edit*

Got some good nork shots in tonight's episode!

Trainspotting - not seen it for at least 10 years, still a very good film, funny, powerful and quite moving. Choose Life. 4/5

Worlds Greatest Dad - 8.5/10 Good film, Robin williams in a serious role and doing it well.

Whip it! - Drew Barrymore Director debut, liked it although it's like so many other films. 8/10

'The Baader Meinhof Complex'
Really interesting as i had no idea about this, seemed to be a little on the side of the RAF but still enjoyable
Not sure if it's historically accurate though :o

Clash of the Titans

9/10, really liked it ... but too short

Original or remake?

Tonight I watched "splinter" on sky movies and for a pretty low budget horror it was actually rather good lol. Was suspensful and had a good storyline which had numerous twists and turns in it.

Makes a nice fresh change to watch a good horror once in a while!

9/10

Me and the missus watched The Game (1997), Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. Intriguing movie to say the least. Excellent performances from all cast members.

9 out of 10 from me.

IMDB 7.7 out of 10 rating

Shocking ending.

The Thin Red Line.

Not sure what to make of it, at some points i was really enjoying it and at other points i was thinking what is going on. Quite long as well considering what actually happens in the film.

Watched the new A Team movie - have to admit it was a lot better than I was expecting. Some fantastic special effects and quite a few funny moments too :)
