What film did you watch last night?

Knives Out - 8/10

Pretty entertaining. Good story, well acted.

I was actually waiting for a bigger twist, lol. I thought it was too simple for the help to be the good person.

Falling Down - 8.5/10

Another 90's classic, back in the day this was the first ever NTSC laser disc we purchased for an eye watering £45 from a shop in Bristol. Now watching on Blu-ray (LD having long gone the way of the dodo) which was a bit lacklustre. Supposedly Dolby HD soundtrack but came out as just stereo in the front speakers. Picture not pin sharp either. Needs a remaster, for sure.

As regards the story, some classic set pieces as "Bill" abandons his car and starts walking through the parts of Los Angeles the tourist industry doesn't want you to see! Robert Duvall also superb as the cop henpecked by his wife and not taken seriously by his colleagues. The only thing that, in the end, slightly marred the story, was the revelation that "Bill" had been a bit of a nutbar all along and hadn't just suddenly lost it in a traffic jam on the freeway.

Terminator: Dark Fate - Started out ok and then just fell into a poor T2 remake. Arnie's character was pretty poor as well. 4/10 (would be lower, but the fight in the car factory was pretty good).

Knives Out: Good fun, great cast, but seemed to drag a bit in the middle third - 7.5/10

Saw Terminator at the weekend. How can Hollywood be so unoriginal. Pretty much copy and paste of T2. Terrible.

Knives Out: 7.5/10

Enjoyable, was hoping for more twists, especially at the end (Plummer is still alive and it was an elaborate ruse!)

Also, D Craig, why does he insist on putting on silly accents? He is a great actor and there is nothing wrong with his British accent!

Chris Evans was good too.

No idea why people reference Joker being a comic book film. Literally nothing about it is comic book beyond it being “the joker”. If you didn’t know batman you wouldn’t guess it was superhero universe related in the slightest.

Justice League

Why is it that Marvel are able to bang out excellent super hero movie after excellent super hero movie, while the DC side of thing produces a string of mediocrity with only the occasional standout? Justice League is far from the worse offender, but it's still no where near the heights of even middling Marvel attempts. The "superman problem" is evident - he's both DC's biggest name character and the hardest to write good Earthbound stories about - but the problems run deeper than that. Worse, the film feels like the studio execs sat the writers down and went "Marvel does it, why can't we?" and they went out and copied from their favourite marvel movies. Jason Momoa (only took me three attempts to spell that) delivers the best performance but Aquaman is only a kind of so-so character, and while Ben Affleck is an excellent actor he just doesn't do Batman well. Ezra Miller's Flash seems like the writers are trying to do the Spiderman/Iron Man thing from Marvel and it just comes off as derivative.

A missable 6/10 and still way better than Batman vs. Superman.

I watched Terminator: Dark Fate last night and pretty much enjoyed it 7/10

JoJo Rabbit is great, I just hate that they marketed it as a comedy.
It has comedic undertones but its actually a pretty serious film for most of it.

The comedy in particular is a bit hit and miss, but everything else is A grade material.

The Gentlemen 9/10

I loved it. Every character is brilliant.
Great who dunnit story all the way.
Hugh Grant cracked me up.

Deffo not for everyone, but my cup of tea 4 sure.
