What film did you watch last night?

Casino Royale is the best of the Craig bonds and frankly, one of the better overall Bond movies.

In regards to the mid scene, struggling to remember but isn't there a big fight in the stairwell with one of the black villains? Vesper see's it and is a little traumatised.

As for the deaths at the end, my thought is it's deliberately abrupt to show how dispensible they are. Have you seen the next 3 movies before? It sort of gets explained, although Spectre is a mess of a film.

Yes, Vesper is traumatised from the stairwell battle - but we see Bond back at the poker table, it then cuts to the shower scene and then back again to the poker table, without any mention of another break etc.

I have seen them before, but i wasn't impressed with QoS and Spectre, so forgot most of it (and yes, as above, Waltz was criminally underused :(). However.................

I stuck the first 15mins of QoS on tonight and it picks up immediately with Mr White being interrogated by MI6 after Bond brings him in and also mentions Vesper and her boyfriend and her being blackmailed in order to keep him safe.

You just don't have the mind to understand it, that's all.
Wow, that's either a bad joke or one of the most arrogant statements I've ever seen. FYI, I watched "Joker" too and found it rather boring. I guess my limited brain isn't up to understanding it. I'll wipe my tears away with my PhD certificate.

IT Chapter 2 - 6/10. Really enjoyed the first half, Pennywise was on the scene from the start, not like usual movies where we spend half the movie building up to seeing the monster. But the 2nd half? Pants - CGI fest and just dragged and dragged.

Quantum of Solace - 6/10. Answred some of my questions from Casino Royale, but aside from that, was pretty bland for a Bond movie.

My wife and I have been revisting old films that we've not watched in years.

Over the last few weeks we've watched

Boondock Saints
In Bruges
Schindlers List
Good Will Hunting
True Romance
Natural Born Killers
Lost Boys
Dazed and Confused

What's stood out is that many of the films on our "to watch" list are >2.5hrs. Shows that the best films will draw you in and make hours pass like minutes.

How did schindlers list and lost boys hold up?

Looking at rewatching these with a couple of teenagers.

I loved Lost Boys growing up (i'm now 41) but for me it's lost it's shine over the last decade or so, it's aged badly but it's a great snapshot movie of it's time I guess.

How old are the teens, there are some quite gory scenes.

I really liked Schindlers List, having never seen it before.

Lost Boys was "ok", as mentioned above it's certainly lost it's shine from the last time i watched it (probably around 12 years ago).

Wash your goddamn mouths out! The Lost Boys and it's soundtrack is still awesome :)

I think it's one of those films where you either connect to it's 'soul' or you don't. If you can't, then you get caught up in critiquing stuff like 80's hair/fashion etc.

15/20 years ago, i'd have wholeheartedly agreed with you. I loved this move in my teens, would watch over and over and had a pirated cassette with the soundtrack.

I'm find this more and more when I rewatched older movies I used to really like, the rose tinted specs are fading.

Dog Soldiers - 7/10

A perfectly serviceable film, elevated by the cast and the dialogue from writer-director Neil Marshall.

Dazed and Confused
Great movie that one :D

must have watched it multiple times over the years whenever I'd been channel surfing and noticed it was about to start back in the 90s and maybe early 2000s back when I still watched live TV.
oh wow looking at imdb the cast list has a bunch of well known actors.

I haven't watched it in at least a decade, I guess when the movie was made they were still small time actors since according to google its budget was only around 7mil

We're the same age, but I think you're getting old :D

Yeah it's funny seeing how young they look.

I noticed a similar thing with True Romance, the cast list is insane, Brad Pitt has such a small part!

Shawshank Redemption 9/10 - You rarely see storytelling like this even with the large gaps between events.

Dallas Buyers Club 8/10 - Dare I say it, Jared Leto was at or above MM's level in this
