What film did you watch last night?

Some interesting ones above I haven't seen, cheers, I'll check a few out.

I really must start rewatching Parasite (I only got around twenty minutes in before nodding off).

As for Alien 3, I think it's the assembly cut you want to see. That's the one I saw (after having read up a bit about it). I thought it was quite good.

"Time Trap" on Netflix. What an utter waste of time. Interesting premise on the face of it but ruined by a weak script, terrible characters (including a very creepy 10 y/o boy who's just WRONG!), too many stupid decision to even count, plot holes galore, no explanation of any of the actually interesting stuff, they're saved at one point by someone who they then watch suffocate without even trying to help, WTF ending, etc, etc.
Don't waste your time.
2/10.

@arknor agreed, both Prometheus and Covenant are a little too slick with their computer displays. I wasn't saying to remove them as such, just that they are the real 'tell' to the age of the movies.

I think if you simply remove the retardness from the script and the crew it would improve the films no matter how beautiful they look.
Less social distancing on a foreign xenos world with actual xenos than we had during COVID....
Yup makes sense.

Inception

It's good but just not as good as I remembered it.

Ironically I found it a bit shallow this time round. Very little characterisation. Too much exposition instead of letting the viewer work things out themselves - Ellen Page's character pretty much only exists to explain things.

At the same time it is engaging and somehow manages to make 2.5 hours fly by.

7/10

Ha ha, true, dumbest crews ever. Although my comment was referring to the displays in the original Alien trilogy as a 'tell' to the age of those :)

The True History of the Kelly Gang - 6/10

Pretty decent but it felt like it was held back a little bit. Seemed like it could have been more violent, more intense, more dangerous etc. A fair watch though.

The Platform - 6/10

It had moments that were interesting and it was pretty ‘different’ I guess. But didn’t really hold my attention after a while.
The first film I recall having a pannacotta as a plot device!

Remember:
“The pannacotta is the message!”

Double World on Netflix

Quite entertaining Chinese (so subtitle haters stay away) fantasy romp.

Kept my attention for the full 1 hour and 50 minutes - quite a rare event (although I suspect that was mainly because of the subtitles).

It's a pretty straight forward A-Z fantasy story - wont hold any real surprises except for
the fact they killed off the best character in the film - Ms Jinggang - didn't see that coming!
but nevertheless, entertaining.

Tolkien - 6.5/10

Enjoyable enough but very dry and uptight, a little too neat and tidy with all the inspiration he got from his time at the Somme while suffering trench fever.

I'm not sure how much is accurate to real life, not sure I care enough to find out either...a good film that i'd unlikely ever watch again.

Oh...turns out i've been saying Tolkien wrong all my life.

Rambo: Last Blood on Amazon, because we wanted something short.

It wasn't great.

I expected the "Home Alone" bit at the end to be a bit longer and a bit more impactful....and despite the length of the underground tunnels, Stallone was conveniently right next to the traps to shoot the bad guys, just after they were skewered.

Wasting bullets, shooting people who are clearly dead and out of the game doesn't seem like something a trained soldier would do, even in a rage.

BlackKKlansman on Netflix - 7/10

Was an okay movie, a little odd early on when we're forced to watch so much of the guys speech and I something a little later really had my interest waning, but then the pace picked back up and it was a reasonable movie.
