What film did you watch last night?

Greenberg

Erm, righhhhhhhhht[/DrEvil]

Not what I expected but enjoyed it all the same, I assumed it would be funny because its Ben Stiller when its actually quite depressing.

I literally fell for the main female actor wish I could meet a girl like that :(

Easy to watch, goes on a bit but worth a watch if you want a normal story about some random guy

Dead snow, thanks to previous review in this thread.

Quite enjoyable slasher. Mindless viewing. Terrible plot with holes but the chainsaw, head football action made up for it :D

6/10

AVATAR.

I thought it was Spectacular & I've not used that word before in convo. :p
Was a bit gay but still an awesome film.

Lolita - 7.5./10 - intriguing film, very different to district 13. this was an eerily quiet, slow paced and quite the odd ball. but compelling none the less. well worth a watch imo just to see what its all about. you'll probably get drawn in and think, wow this is pretty strange but also good.

Did you watch the modern version or the kubrick version? Are you a fan of the book?

Edit: Just saw you mentioned the modern one. Irons is superb in the modern one. Personally didn't like Kubrick's version at all, seemed overly 'safe'.

There's a great documentary called How do you solve a problem like Lolita charting Nobokov's life, move to the states and Lolita's inception.
Unfortunately it's not on iPlayer anymore, but I'm sure if you looked it could still be obtained.

The Crazies 2010

Not bad actually. I wasn't expecting much after seeing Survival of the dead. But this was much better.

not last night but tuesday night film4 came up big:

District 13 - 7/10 - park course

I'm guessing you mean parkour?

Predators

7-8/10.

Not half bad, good action, lots of guns, predators and death, what more can you want.

However Brody's "action" voice really did start to get annoying towards the 15th or 16th minute.

Valhalla Rising

A man with a remarkable talent for violence must fight to survive when he sets out on a remarkable journey in this fantasy from director Nicolas Winding Refn. One-Eye (Mads Mikkelsen) is the nickname given to a nameless, mute warrior who has become a slave to Barde (Alexander Morton), a wealthy Scotsman who obtained One Eye for his remarkable fighting skills. One Eye is a fierce warrior but shows little loyalty to his master, and when the opportunity presents itself, One Eye murders Barde and his mercenaries and sets off on his own, with a young boy (Maarten Stevenson) tagging along to speak on his behalf. Eager to leave Denmark behind in favour of freedom and adventure, One Eye throws in his lot with a band of Christian Vikings, who've set out on an ambitious quest to travel to Jerusalem and claim the Holy Land as their own. But the voyage to the Holy City is a difficult one, and the Vikings are met with violent resistance, forcing One Eye to rely on his talents as a warrior to protect himself and his young apprentice.

0.5/10
it would be zero, but I have to save that just incase there is something worse.
This is all about photography, think how top gear film cars, that is all this is almost 2 hours of fancy camera work on scenery, with one line of speech every 5 minutes. There isn't a huge amount of violence in it a scene every 15 minutes. The rest as I say is scenery, literally minutes and minutes of scenery where nothing happens.

The Box

Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.

1/10

Certainly not what i was expecting, pretty darn rubbish. it's got a pretty lame twist, it isn't really about the psychological effects of choosing or aftermath.

Catch me if you can

9/10

I love films like that particuarly if there true, like 'I love you phillip morris'

Such a shame about leonardo Dicaprio :(

The Boiler Room

Good film with good performances, unfortunately I would like to emphasize the use of word good and not excellent there. I felt that some relationships within a film weren't developed that well and were slightly rushed but it does offer some decent dialogue.

6/10

Momento - 7/10

Interesting film. But a bit laboured i felt. it was like they shot one scene and then re mashed that scene for the next 15 minutes - to me it felt like a cheap way of spinning out 2 hours with only 1 hour of footage. but thats just the cynic in me. i liked the plot and the idea, but was hoping for an ending which upserped the beginning, not justfied it to that point and no further.
