What film did you watch last night?

Tenet

Watched this for the second time after watching at the cinema first. On my modest 5.1.2 system the bass was still relentless and dialogue difficult to follow at times. Despite this I still enjoyed the film as much as I did in the cinema. As with my first watch, I did follow the overall story, but there's still elements I'm a bit unsure of.

As said by a few people, not one of Nolan's best, but far better than the usual blockbuster churn.

7.5/10

This is 40 and then Knocked Up (yes I know Knocked Up was first).

Seen them both a few times since they came out. Maude and Iris Apatow are great in both films especially in This is 40 with Iris, the younger of the 2, being older. I do hope Judd Apatow et al, makes This is 50.

3 random unrelated films, all featuring people blowing up to some degree.

Spontaneous

Nihilistic, teen-angst, black comedy. Actually a bit refreshing and an enjoyable watch.

6/10

Ready Or Not

Another sort of black comedy, a silly romp and also pretty gory.

6/10

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Honestly, I don't get why this got so much hate. The random alien aspect was naff, but over all I thought action sequences we good fun. Definitely better than Last Stand and Apoca****

6.5/10

Spontaneous is a good film and I'd rate it as a 7/10.
Ready or not the same as Spontaneous.
Dark Pheonix, that's a generous score there :D

For me, a 6/10 is enjoyable, but I am unlikely to ever re-watch it.
7s are likely to be rewatched at some point, and 8+ will definitely get multiple viewings.

As for Dark Phoenix, it had plenty of mutants using mutant powers, and that is pretty much all I can ask for from X-men films these days :p

The Great Outdoors

John Candy and Dan Ackroyd movie that I watched on TV quite a few times when I was about 8-12, I would guess, but haven't seen it since. It must have appeared on Prime in the past couple of months as it wasn't there when I previously checked.

Anyway, it was pretty great still. I had worried it would have aged really badly and I wouldn't like it any more - but it was fine. Not a classic, but good fun.

Calm With Horses - 7/10

Gritty Irish gangsters take advantage of the main protagonist who is their "muscle". Pretty unique, sombre film. a lot of people raved about it, the performances are excellent, definitely worth a watch.

Watched Tenet tonight agree with most things said about it. Thought it was excellent though. Refreshingly unique plot. Would recommend the 4k Blu-ray. Can see why people may have complaints on the sound mix though.

Great movie of the new wave French horror from mid 2000's...on back of that you should watch Inside (2007 original), Frontier(s) and Martyrs (original french, not remake)

Martyrs (2008) stayed with me for a while after watching it for the first time. Shocking to watch in places, but very well done and some great twists.
