What film did you watch last night?

Martyrs (2008) stayed with me for a while after watching it for the first time. Shocking to watch in places, but very well done and some great twists.

It's one of my favourite horror movies of all time, so bleak, unrelenting, true horror...as you say, stays with you for some time.

If you get chance check out Incident in a Ghostland by the same director, another very good horror from the last few years.

Shame French horror burnt out so fast, they did some great movies around that time.

I've had Martyrs on my list to watch for a long time, think I'll put it on tonight.

Watched Host the other night. Now I have a thing about films under 90 mins ( :p ) so this one at only 57 mins long certainly raised an eyebrow from me, but I thought it was excellent. Low budget horror based on a group having a zoom meeting seance. Lots of tension, great jump scares and generally scary throughout. Good job done on such a limited budget/run time. 8/10

Great movie of the new wave French horror from mid 2000's...on back of that you should watch Inside (2007 original), Frontier(s) and Martyrs (original french, not remake)

I've seen Martyrs. I'm not sure about Inside though I don't think I've seen it, and I am pretty certain that I have yet to see Frontiers. Ones to maybe check out this evening. Cheers. :)

The Goonies 8/10

Great fun, watching the new blu-ray release (the one with the 4k remaster), and catching all sorts of little bits I'd forgotten about or missed in the past, it's surprisingly as good as I remember it:)

I'm probably going to end up basically watching it again a couple of times, as it's got a commentary track and a hidden gems/pop up track.

In other 80's movies, I've also got Beetlejuice and Tremors to sit down and watch in the next few days :D

Just watched this after seeing your post. I agree, good film. Hadn't heard of it before today so I wonder what other horror gems I've missed.

Definitely! Didn't get to see it last night but it's tee'd up ready to go.

Glad you enjoyed it :)

Descent is another not that well known gem that's scarier than it should be. I watched it for 2nd/3rd time recently and it still gets me each time!

I’ve watched a couple of good films recently. The Hit, an 80s road, gangster with John hurt, Terence Stamp and a young Tim Roth. And Knives Out. Recent who dun it. Both excellent.

Go and watch the american remake now, I dare ya...so very bad.

As mentioned yesterday, if you like Martys, check out Frontier(s), Inside (2007) and High Tension...bloody great French horror :)

Agree with most of that list but think Hereditary is ridiculously over hyped. Not a bad movie by any stretch but the praise it gets isn't deserved.

I haven't seen House That Jack Built yet, friend told me about a certain scene and I really struggle with violence towards children since my child was born. I touched on this when talking about Nightingale in this thread previously. Anytime before my son was born and i'd have probably watched without batting an eyelid.

It's one of those films that I seem to appreciate more each time I view it, like extra detail that I missed.

As for The House That Jack Built, probably better for you to avoid that one. :)
