Shepherds and Butchers. Steve Coogan in apartheid era Pretoria defending someone accused of mass murder. Based on a true story and pretty harrowing at times.
Interestingly, having watched this last night, I see reported today that the Director just died!Big Bad Mama (1974) on Prime.
Crime / sexploitation movie starring Angie Dickinson who's both very attractive in her forties here, and also clearly the best actor on screen throughout. Quite a lot of somewhat gratuitous nudity on show, including from Dickinson, as you might expect. A bit creepy with her daughters acting young but still having sex - they're portrayed as of-age (starts with one getting married), just rather immature.
William Shatner's also in it, during his low spell after Star Trek. He's pretty crap.
Enjoyed it all, though, was entertaining throughout.
I think a lot of the impact of the impact of this film has been lost over the years. Back in the 1980's AIDS ripped though the gay community and with no real treatment and certainly no cure people were terrified of it. Getting sacked if your company found out was a real possibility. Nowadays there are affective treatments and a lot more is known about the disease. There isn't the same fear of it.Philadelphia - Had always been on my radar, as I enjoy watching Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington, but I didn't particularly enjoy the story/script and was a little bored -- 5/10

Tarzan - Impressive hand drawn / CGI animation and a set-up that was way better than you would anticipate from the subject matter. Goes downhill once Clayton etc show up and from that point the plot is too wafer thin to really get particularly invested in it. Better than I thought it would be though and Tarzan himself is likeable... even if he did make me feel like an inadequate fat man. 7/10
The songs are a little jarring in that they are sort of background themes - it isn’t musical theatre, which I think it a bit more common in Disney films. I didn’t pay much attention to them but I’ll check it out!!I've not yet seen Tarzan in English, only in Swedish, but Phil Collins have some real great songs on that soundtrack.
