What film did you watch last night?

Jurassic World Dominion. Wow, terrible from start to finish. I love JP1, like JP2 and even 3 but the JWs have just gotten worse each time. This one was the most blatant example of plot contrivances and Set Piece A ... now Set Piece B... with zero logic or subtly. Why did they do Action X? To get from A to B; no other reason.
If any of the JP folks are on, I'll happily sit down and watch. That's simply not something I'd do with any of the JW movies. And I'm a dino nut.

Jurassic Garbage - 2/10 (just for the old cast) - I am so very glad I didn't see this utterly gash film at the cinema. Other than seeing the OG cast there was literally nothing that interested me. Sadly the best part (the OG cast) was also the worst part as they massively bloated an already large cast and their additional story arc just added more crap to a film already bursting with crap. I mean just how many times do we have to see that same crap "T-Rex fights the new Big Bad and looks like its lost before teaming up for a win" ending FFS!

Couple of decent horror films:

The black phone 6/10 - A little generic, but nicely done. The girl was seriously annoying though.

Men 6/10 - Started really well, building nicely then loses it a bit with that ending.

No Time to Die: 5/10... some nice ideas for a shorter film, whose potential was ruined (for me) by a totally unbelievable relationship, a more unbelievable than most (which is saying something for a Bond film!) car chase, and a villain out of the "mumble & menace" school of old tropes. I've been more menaced by three day old shepherds pie.

Overall I guess I'm just grumpy that Casino Royale's superb reawakening of what seemed to be a dead franchise turned out to be a bit of a dead cat bounce.

Bloodshot - 6/10
Was actually quite good up till
the reveal that he's being reprogrammed everytime with a new target
and it starts to fall apart after that, with London chase scenes clearly shot in somewhere like sunny Melbourne with no attempt to actually make it look like London and increasingly over the top abuse of the nanobots idea.

Positives, the tunnel scene with the flour, looks great. Plus some of the other scenes look great as well with the computer generated simulations.

Bahahahahaha I'd forgotten about this film, the fake London was epic.

Sole Survivor (1970)

I recently watched a YouTube video about an American B24 Liberator, WW2 plane which crashed in the desert and was lost for 16 years and found broken in half and mostly intact. I remembered a film I saw as a young man, the one above which is based on the true story. The true story is probably more haunting than the film and it's worth a watch. The film stars William Shatner and he seems to find a way to have his shirt off a few times, even in this lol. Almost like it's in his contract whenever he acted.

I enjoyed the film but it really showed it's age. A bit of stock footage used here and there, some slightly dodgy dialogue and acting but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jurassic World: Dominion

Wasn't great to be honest, it was a little all over the place and forced in some parts. Also... the dinosaurs in some parts looked quite rigid and fake... (I think they used more animatronics in this one).

5/10 for me.

The Mist - 8/10

Based on Stephen King's novel. Absolutely brilliant, big cast too. That ending though....

That ending is a full on punch to the stomach without the need for gore or graphic violence. The film itself is good but not fantastic..but the ending....wow!

The ending made the film. I did not see that coming at all.
One of my all time favourite movies. As said, that ending. Even after watching it at least half a dozen times it still makes me go ‘Jesus’ at the end.

Watched the ending again earlier lol.

The Interceptor. Elsa Pataky cannot act at all. Chris Hemsworth having a cameo was just cringe tbh but the CGI was godawful. Microsoft paint stuff.

I would honestly expect better from a photoshop thread in GD.

This is what will eventually make Netflix crumble, this absolute tripe that they expect people to pay for. Utter garbage.
