What film did you watch last night?

If you liked The Big Short, watch the 2010 Inside Job. Basically telling the same story but it's a documentary. Equally as good, but if anything it'll make you hate anyone working in finance even more.

And the fact that those ****s basically ruined hundreds of thousands of peoples lives, while they got off scot free (and kept all of their ill gotten money) beggars belief.

But one quote in the movie sums it up really well........it's a Wall Street government.

They got away scot free while ordinary people had to pay for it. And it is happening again now.

The World is Not Enough. This is an interesting Bond film in that it almost combines the Bond Girl and Bond Villain into one character and I think it works for the most part. This gives the story some nice twists and turns along the way, once again good action from the franchise and Bronsan is great in the role.

This issues come from that is also tries to sick to the Bond formula and this drags down the rest of the film. I think removing Denise Richards’s character and breaking away from the some of the usual Bond trope (Bond going off with the Girl for example) could have given us a much better film. A generous 7/10 for the good ideas.

Sicario 2: Soldado - 7/10
Good film although the story kind of jumped from people trafficking to kidnap etc. Enjoyed it and good cinematography and acting by BDT and JB. Spoilt the score a bit by watching Sicario 1 the night before (8.5/10) which was brilliant and I really enjoyed it, had a lot of tension and much better cinematography. Hard to watch in places as you know it's not too far off realism.

Overall both films were brilliant and I can't believe I waited so long to watch them.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) - 4/10

A superhero movie where they forgot to include the superhero and when they finally do bring one in, they bring in three at once.

The tribute to Boseman is effectively moving and the story is good and quite mature, but there’s nowhere near enough action and it feels like a hodge-podge of lots of other things.

The film is slow, long and dull; the action is bland and lacking, the American CIA scenes were completely unnecessary and although there are some visual spectacles in the grand scale, it’s never that spectacular.

The villain was good, the characters are ok and the tribal elements are colourful, but it just didn’t excite, thrill or amaze me the way a superhero movie should.

Incantation 6/10
Chinese found footage horror film. Some slightly disturbing moments and creepiness. Not too bad if you like this sort of thing.

Watched this recently too, and would agree with that score. Quite good.
This is also the film one of our forum members touched on having stolen one of his image/gifs - i can't remember who it was though - spotted it immediately. Maybe @Raymond Lin or @mrk ?

The Banshees of Inisherin - 5/10

Was looking forward to this as a big fan of In Bruges and thought 3 Billboards was a masterpiece. Not really sure what to say, a friend of mine liked it a lot, I was a bit non-plussed tbh, just didn't get it at all.

Living - 5/10

An English remake of a 1952 Japanese film Ikiru about a boringly run of the mill civil servant who is given months to live and realises he hasn't really lived so far.

Set in the 50's, the portrayal of the civil service was a rather exaggerated caricature and for such a slow ponderous film, oddly the plot elements and exposition felt really rushed.

It was my train gif yep, they should have added a credit line to credit me at the end but having just skipped through I cannot spot my name if anyone else could check too? They had 30 days so will let the full 30 days to elapse :p

That's where i'd seen it before, seemed really familiar.

Remember Christmas only comes once a year !

Brosnan was so underrated as Bond.

Barbarian 6/10, first half. 3/10 second half!

Started off OK, new technology, new idea, new threats and the young helpless female victim trope, became her having common sense and not making stupid decisions. Soundtrack was good, sounded like a proper 80's horror.

But then the 2nd half, stupid decisions, crap acting and the worlds most ridiculous two police officers. The acting was hammy and where the **** did they get the sound effects for the gun? The thing was a hand cannon but sounded like a kids cap gun.

Started off well, trailed off in the middle and the less said about the end, the better.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Second watch 6/10 hasn’t held its charm as much as some of the better MCU films.
I found it the reverse. I enjoyed it more the second time through. I think because I had certain expectations for how it was going to go the first time. I still think the zombie bit onwards is pretty guff though
