What film did you watch last night?

Hachi: A Dog's Tale - 8/10

Brilliant film. A college professor bonds with an abandoned dog he takes into his home. Loosely based on the true story of Hachikō, a Japanese Akita dog remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, Hidesaburō Ueno, for whom he continued to wait for over nine years following Ueno's death.

Made me well up, not many films manage to do that

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) - 8/10

Another fantastic subversion of the genre and although there isn’t much opportunity for the viewer to solve the mystery ahead of time, it’s still very entertaining to watch.

It’s mostly the elite rich conniving to keep their fortune and how their relationships are nothing but for show, but there are moments of brilliance in its first half.

The film gets better as it goes along and once it starts explaining the mystery within the mystery, it really shines, even though it wasn’t as complex as it could have been.

An eclectic cast of characters in a visually interesting setting and the ending was good fun.

Decision to Leave - 6/10.

I love Park Chan-wook’s previous films, but I couldn’t get on with this at all.
Great cinematography as always, but not one I’ll watch again.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

5.5/10 at best.

Alright, not quite as good as the first one. So many things don't make sense with Wakanda and it just nags at me.

Not sure that Shuri is the actor they should be hanging their hat on for the future of the franchise either.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story 6/10 it would have been 9/10 based on about the first 2/3rds of the movie but the final act undid all the good work. I genuinely thought wow this is great I'm loving the build up the misdirection the campy over the top acting then they explained the whodunnit and it all fell apart for me.

Blade kicked off the MCU really, not holding my breath on the new version. And that tune: New Order's Confusion.

It didn't, because it's not part of the "MCU" and wasn't made by Marvel Studios.

Same with X-men, Spider-man (Raimi trilogy), Hulk (Eric Bana), Daredevil, Elektra, The Punisher, Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider

But yes, it was the first Marvel character on film, if you discount Howard the Duck.
