What film did you watch last night?

Enter the Dragon - 8/10
To my shame it was the first time I’d seen it. The fight scenes were great but really it’s Bruce Lee’s charisma and style that carries the movies. The supporting characters like Saxon, Roper, Williams, etc. were fun too.

Obviously it’s very of it’s time, they probably wouldn’t make a movie like that today. The dubbing is a pretty poor to say the least.

Did you buy this from Apple TV? I did last night after seeing it was in the chart for some reason :D

It was quite fun - I was immediately wondering why the ‘original Chinese version’ language wasn’t syncing with the voices… then I switched the audio to English and it was clear that they were (mostly) acting / speaking in English. BUT I think the whole film was recorded without audio, which was re-dubbed in entirety. How confusing! :p

I’d give it 6.5/10 - a fun watch but very dated.

The Pope’s Exorcist

There is something undeniably fun and appealing about Russell Crow playing this role, but aside from that casting choice it feels underdeveloped. The possessed boy is hamming it up so much it (fair play to him he was presumably directed that way) and the ‘scares’ on the rest of the family are so laughable it became a little embarrassing. From that point it lost me and I was quietly willing it to conclude. Which is a shame as the plot itself wasn’t terrible.

I think it might have been better to play it even more tongue in cheek, like the Brendan Fraser ‘Mummy’ films, since the horror aspects flopped so hard.

5/10

Safe house 2012, was OK at best. Quite a basic action / thriller film. Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds not at their best, probably difficult with the script they were given.

Top gun Maverick - 8/10

Enjoyed the movie as a whole and a nice sequel to the 1st but would disagree with it being one of the best movies ever made - it's not even in my top 20.
