What film did you watch last night?

The Creator - 8/10. Went to IMAX 4D for this, wasn't sure what to expect but really thoroughly enjoyed it, way more than I expected I would. I think on the back drop of all dross Marvel/ Disney etc have been pumping out this really shines for me. I thought the imagary was great, the way the IA chararcters CGi was done was really very good, the walking bomb scene was superb.

Oh, and I watched Aliens at home over the weekend, cracking film, to think its 37 years old now, maybe some nostalgia in this but 9/10.

We tried to watch Sound of Freedom but it was nauseating and all about how great god is. Not my cup of tea and I was sort of looking forward to watching it. Turned it off after an hour, could not stand any more. I should have known it would be rubbish as Jesus was in it.

House (1985)

Low budget, but well done relatively light hearted horror with a fair bit of comedy (the dog digging in the back yard had an expression I remember all too well:p).
They chose a good cast, especially given how few people are in it and I really enjoyed it.

I don't think I'd ever seen it before, but I recognised enough to suspect I'd seen bits of it either at a friends house or on C4/Sci-fi at some point in the past.

I'm watching House 2 tonight, and I already recognise a couple of bits from the trailer that make me think I've either seen bits of it before whilst channel hopping or on some other film/TV/youtuve.

Given I was aiming to watch a fair few films this month I'm not doing well, I think this is my second or third.

Last Night in Soho
7/10
Starts slow.but good when it gets going.
That's on my list to watch this month.
I've only had the LE sat next to the player since it was initially released, so not long:p

For some crazy reason I've decided to watch the Saw films. I've only ever seen one and two.

I just finished Saw 3D (the 7th and at the time final one) It felt like a university student's final project. The acting was some of the worst I've ever seen in a professional movie. The opening scene I thought was a spoof it was so bad, but it turns out it was genuine.

Overall the series has pros and cons

Pros:
I really like the first one, it's tonally very different from the rest. It's a bit low budget and there are a few plot holes they've 'fixed' with flashbacks in later films but overall it's a solid thriller.
The second one is good but not as good, unfortunately they abandoned the tone of the first in favour of ever increasing gore and 'shock' scenes rather than tension and pacing.

Cons After the first two the quality slowly declines. Some absolutely appalling acting and writing and ever increasing reliance on flashbacks. Jigsaw and Amanda were pretty interesting. Hoffman and the absolutely generic completely unmemorable characters from 4 onwards were not.

@Shamikebab my biggest issue with the saw sequels is the point at which the traps became inescapable, early on, there was always a chance albeit through significant self harm and maiming that you could survive and carry on your life with the lessons learnt. However there comes a point when they're just a death sentence.

from memory, it's when Hoffman takes over the saw role to clean things up so there was a reason for the change but that's when it lost me

With that said, i'll watch any they make, i'll scoff and ridicule and moan then eagerly wait for the next instalment as i'm a horror fiend and i'm always eager to see what new twisted methods of death someone can think up :D

:p
It's been a long time since I watched either but remember really enjoying them and watched both a number of times in the 80's/90's. :)

Better than I was expecting to be fair, and one of those rare films where you think it could have actually done with being longer? 8/10

I loved House when it came out. I've been trying to remember for years what it was called. Brilliant film in its day :D

Watched Jigsaw tonight. It wasn't bad! Wasn't great either but next to Saw 3D it looked like a flipping masterpiece. This one actually seemed to have actors in it and was a little less gore porn.
