I've been watching a bit of a mix recently.
Living (2022)
A solid film, really well shot and with a good cast, Bill Nighy is good as always, and Aimee Lou Wood is good as the temp he starts to talk to and opens up to about what is going on.
I really enjoyed it, quite a quiet and I guess "gentle" drama that just works.
Some like it hot (1959)
Possibly due to the age/setting and it being so old I didn't really find this as funny as it's always said to be, possibly in part because the idea of men dressing up as women isn't as innately funny a premise as this seemed to think.
Having said that I quite enjoyed it and can very much see where a lot of later films took ideas/scenes from it, and a good solid film, just not "the funniest film".
I have to be honest, I don't think Marilyn Monroe was actually a very good actress going by her performance in it, she looked nice but out of the cast she seemed the weakest member, but both Curtis and Lemmon were very good.
I've also been making use of my BFI player sub* and watching some horrors etc from the 60's and 70's, and have been watching some of Jean Rollins' films, which are very much of a style and formula that whilst it can be fun is more than a little repetitive when you watching several in the space of a month (lots of nudity, many of the same cast returning, same locations etc).
As it's now October I'm going to try and concentrate a bit on clearing up some of my blu-ray backlog of horror films, especially the various ones I've picked up in sales.
*Although it's a shame that as far as I can see it doesn't have an app, so it's relying on my computer connected to my TV (I'm thinking about a pi5 as a plex box and I guess that would also do the job for this).
