What film did you watch last night?

The Family Plan - 4/10 - An inoffensive story you've seen a million times before and done better than this (True Lies etc). The cast put in a workman-like performance with, again, nothing particularly good/bad about their performance, the cinematography and effects are all OK not good/bad, the score is OK not good/bad etc etc.

It feels like something created to make "content" rather than because the director, cast, crew, really wanted to make the best film they could, and that lack of "care/effort" really comes through in the utter blandness see here, it's OK at best not good/bad, and the day after finishing it it'll be gone from your mind before the weekend is over.
Just watched it and I couldn't decide between a 5 and a 6 out of 10, I guess because, a nit like you say, there's nothing too bad about it aside being a little cheesy and predictable. The best bit was perhaps seeing the name of the actor who plays Kyle - "At least you have a real name. Van?! I'm a mode of transport" - actor's name = Van Crosby.

The Three Musketeers: Milady (2023) - 7/10

The second part of the historical romp which continues its story, authentic setting and atmosphere. The story felt rushed and a bit light as they dashed across the country and almost stumbled onto the answers to the conspiracy, focusing more on the secrets of the characters than the war. The acting was good, the action scenes were exciting and the light humour and use of music made it worthwhile.

The Family Plan - 6/10

This film is on AppleTV+ starring the legend that is Mark Wahlberg. It's a nice road trip comedic family film that is fun. Wife and I enjoyed it, even though at times it seemed like a commercial for some flashy kiddie looking game called Valorant.

Shaving Ryan's Privates Saving Private Ryan - 9/10

Easily still one of the most visceral opening half-hours to a film. It's so good, and so intense, and so well done, and so thought-provoking that it wouldn't have been a complete deal breaker if the rest of the film couldn't quite cash the cheque that the early part wrote.

But it does.

AND it has Vin Diesel in it!:D

Violent Night 7/10 it didn’t promise much as it started and truth be told the plot was a bit hokey at times. But the amusing violence had me in stitches throughout the film. The emotional payoffs actually worked. It seriously over performed its basics with good direction and they leant on the comedy just right. I thoroughly recommend it for £5 on Prime.

Infinite - 3/10

Nonsense. Wahlburg is bland as a cracker. Some fun action scenes with awful cgi.
wtf was happening when he basically turned into a wizard lol

New Indy

story / acting / characters etc all pretty good, liked it 10/10

absolutely hate the over use of CGI and colour palette (blues and oranges only and almost no colour at all for huge sections of the film, at times can barely see what's going on) and everything is CGI = a CGI guy on a CGI thing with a CGI background, feels like that tintin animated movie at times
and look at Raiders - stunts everywhere your eyes can see, with actual people doing things -3 points

-1 for very meh score, desperately missing the usual John Williams style where the soundtrack is almost a character in itself in the OG films - it should be LOUD!

and 30 mins too long -1

so 5/10 let down by visuals and sound

Matrix Resurrections 6 or 7 out of 10, I'm not sure.

I've put off watching this for a while and I have mixed feelings. I thought the cast was good and the story was pretty interesting, more than I expected for a third sequel to an old series. I think some of the CGI looked a touch ropy and the choreography wasn't as good as the first three films. I appreciated the idea to have technology move on in the time gap but I don't think it had as clear 'rules' as the first which hurt the tension. I still don't really understand what they needed to extract their people from the matrix It also had slightly too many callbacks and flashbacks (they worked in the first act but I wish they'd left them there). Overall concept was good but execution fell a little short. Also what was with the weird Toothless looking sentinel?

Superbad - 7/10

Not quite as funny as I remember but still a decent laugh. American Pie does the school boys getting laid thing better.
The bit when the cops are in the bar and they get a radio call for backup cause everyones being shot and turn it off and continue talking to McLovin, is the best bit in the film though, "there's so much blood!!!!" That and the collection of 'drawings' with the narration.
