What film did you watch last night?

Ferrari - 7/10
Was heading for a 6/10 up until the last scenes.

Slightly dodgy CGI with the actual crash, but the panning shot of the aftermath is brutal. Cinema went completely silent at that point.

Oldboy (2003) - Never heard of this before somehow and walked in blind apart from the locked up 15 years for some reason bit. 8/10 for me, really glad to have watched it, great revenge film and great cinematography. Could hardly believe it was 20 years old apart from the tech changes eg flip phones and CRT monitors. Brilliant watch and will watch it again sometime.
If you liked oldboy, it's actually part of a trilogy.

Wonka. 2/10.
Had some loyalty points expiring on 12th Jan so cashed them in for free tickets and this looked to be the pick of an exceptionally bad bunch of films on current release and I still feel ripped off. Dreadful and boring. Avoid.

I thought it was marvellous I'd give it 7/10. Great cast and well acted.

Was speaking to my brother that said it was a 7/10 for him and he quite liked it.

Midsommar (2019) - 8/10

Wow, not quite sure what to say about this. It's quite possibly the weirdest and most absurd film I have ever seen, and yet despite being two and a half hours long and slow paced it kept me utterly gripped throughout.

Have you seen Hereditary? If not, put that on your watch list… but go in blind!

Also, Beau is Afraid… although that is much more ‘art house’ and very challenging (arguably a massive slog and undoubtedly not entirely enjoyable). If you thought Midsommar was weird… oooooh boy :p

Same director. He’s great.

The Flash - 7/10 surprisingly good. The humour seemd balanced although I can imagine Barry Allen is a bit marmite. A little too CGI heavy in places where practical effects could have worked. Super Girl was good, the fan service cameos were good. The Flashpoint story was surprisingly strong and had a few decent emotional pay offs. Compared to Idiana Jones and the Dismal Destiny this was rather good and didn't deserve to be such a flop, Warners really cocked up there. If this had been made and released shortly after Man of Steel or Justice League it would have been so much better.
