What film did you watch last night?

AfrAId.

Started off very creepy, but seemed to descend into nonsensical plot contrivance. Some interesting themes though, and the 90 minutes went by pretty quickly. 5/10.

Longlegs

Really enjoyed this, especially on a brand new LG G4 TV and soundbar!

Cage was brilliant as Longlegs, and the actress was fantastic too. I really liked the way it was filmed too, especially some of the shots that just lingered a little without any real reason. Everything about it was just really creepy.

Managed to spot a few of the devils appearing in various scenes, but missed a few too based on some googling.

Solid 8/10

Under Paris.

Started really well but got ridiculous when it actually got under Paris.

Did it get explained why the shark grew from 2.5 metres to 7 metres in a few months?

Borderlands , loved the game years ago spent hundreds of hours getting drunk and playing this so couldnt wait to see this even with all the bad reviews, i want my £10.49 back this was aweful and this is from someone who liked Battlefield Earth.

Oof! Bit harsh there on Deadpool me thinks, I agree it's not as good as earlier films, but I still enjoyed it and had a good, old chortle throughout!
I really wanted to like it but the plot is terrible and even the action sequences were a bit too drawn out for my liking!

Man, all action scenes are too drawn out these days! I miss the perfectly paced and choreographed scenes from the likes of Indy Raiders of the Lost Arc or Terminator. These days it is 15-minute nonsensical sequences with CGI being **** all over the screen.

Presumably because they find it an easier way to fill the run time rather than having to come up with a good plot, sharp dialogue, meaningful character development etc.

It also brings up one of my other pet hates when people are put through so much in an extended fight/action scene that they should need months to recover, but in the movie two minutes later it's as though nothing happened. Unless it's a full on slapstick comedy or they are supposed to be an invulnerable superhero, but that also gets boring fast as then there is no real peril.

The Terminator (1984)

This film has it all and always has been the best in the series in my opinion.

It was nice to see it on the big screen, the restoration is superb and good from a preservation point of view. If I had the option to watch it in a run down cinema with a 35mm projector and cigarette burns I would take that over pristine however.

I also sometimes wonder what James Cameron's CV would look like if he hadn't gone down the Titanic and Avatar route. So many great films over that 10-15 year period.

9/10
