What film did you watch last night?

There isn't a 10/10 movie on IMBD, the highest is The Shawshank Redemption with 9.3
using decimal points is different though, that's just a different way of presenting an out of 100 rating.

And IMDB is an average of course there isn't a 10/10 film, that would require everyone to agree. Plenty of people will have given it a perfect score.

Gladiator 2 - 6.5/10
Decent but messy. Bit too much homage to the original

Red One - 7/10
Surprisingly good. Enjoyable through out. JK Simmons actually a decent Santa.

Trick r Treat (2007)

A bit late to be watching it in regards to the time of year, but we wanted something shorter to watch. Now I wished we'd watched Lake Placid again.

We didn't find this funny or scary or anything at all really. I certainly don't get the positive reviews it received or it's cult following. It was all a bit boring to me.

4/10

I like this one, although not quite so good on a rewatch (when you know how all the short stories end). I can definitely see why people don’t like it though.

For, me it’s akin to visiting ‘Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights’ or a similar event; a ‘party celebration’ of all things spooky, with its tongue firmly in cheek. Good fun if that’s what you’re in the mood for. Nothing of substance, sure, but it’s not going for that.

The Wild Robot 8/10. I'm well known for falling asleep through kids films at home but this was charming and funny.

Masterminds. 6/10. Watched it as it has half the SNL cast from a few years back. Decent enough with a few laughs.

Gladiator 2 - not a classic like the first one but enough good stuff to keep me watching for the 2hr 30m run-time. 7/10

The last dance - Hong Kong drama with touches of humour about a wedding planner who becomes a HK version of a funeral director and has to deal with all the Taoist traditional rituals etc. liked it 8/10
.

Silent Bite - Expected it to be trash but actually enjoyed it. Ending is a bit meh but some genuine chuckles from the dialogue for me. Very campy and over acted in certain places but hey, if you like hot vampires definitely worth a watch.

Dark Angel aka I Come in Peace. Popped up on Prime Video whilst looking for something to watch. As soon as I saw the thumbnail I remembered the film and it was enjoyable tosh. Just as it was 30 years ago. I loved films like this in the 80’s and 90’s.

Ghostbusters II -7/10

At the cinema for its 35th Anniversary. First time I've seen it once the big screen since it came out, I was 8 and first visit to the cinema i can remember. Still love it. Still don't get the hate people throw at it.

Tried Sting but turned it off 1/3rd of the way through. Poor acting and felt more like a rubbish comedy more than anything else.

Paranormal Activity 2 (on Paramount)

I quite like the first film but this is redundant; almost a note for note retread of that, in the form of a ‘semi-prequel’.

So much unbearable ghost-foreplay and very little payoff, aside from a couple of good jump scares.

A time waster at best.

4.5/10

*****

Sphere (on Amazon Prime)

This is terrible. I recalled it being bad and it’s even worse than I remembered!

The underwater sets are slick and it has a good premise on paper… but the dialogue is horrible, the characters threadbare and it feels inexplicably rushed.

There are a couple of good ideas, particularly the interactions via the computer, but nothing that can redeem it.

It didn’t drag, but deffo one to avoid.

3.5/10

… however, the subtitles made this a riot. They were frequently wildly and inappropriately off. Highlights included:

Someone importantly yelling “DONE!” -> “GUN!”

“I need to talk to Jerry” -> “I’m ****ing Jerry”

And my personal favourite

“It’s coming through the ceiling!!” -> “I’m a clown!!” :o
