What film did you watch last night?

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - Terry Gilliam directed last film of Heath Ledger (who died part way through and other took over his part for certain scenes).

Was good, definitely Gilliam, very reminiscent of Baron Münchhausen, set in modern day London but with fantasy elements, also Lilly Cole was in it too!

4/5

Oldboy.

I've only watched a handful of subtitled films (mainly those in the top 250 of IMDB) and i must say it was brillant! Very original, just wish the person that recommended it to me didn't tell me why!

The Losers 4/10, below average.

It attempts to steal rock'n'rolla style and the A-team. Sorry but it didn't work as much as the actors attempted to save it.

I really liked this, thought it was much much better than the A team and the expendables.

Fast & Furious (Number 4)

Had the 4 disc box set, but was too scared to watch this for weeks and weeks having sat through Tokyo Drift :p

I'd say 4 is good as a mindless action film, same class as the first film, everyone should just ignore the other two :p

Watched "The Social Network" on Saturday - very much enjoyed it - very interesting (despite hating Facebook btw! :p) - 9/10

The "Buried" yesterday - again very interesting idea! Not your typical Ryan Reynolds film to say the least! - 8/10

Watched Horton Hears a Who on saturday. Wasnt expecting anything special (it was chosen by a 2 year old who liked the elephant on the cover) but I actually enjoyed it!

The Hurt Locker. I found it disappointing. The plot and character development were muddy, and the final 10 minutes were unbearably cheesy. Still, it felt very visceral, and it looked good.

Ninja Assassin, ok plot (it's not that complicated lol), impressive fight scenes but the bits between the fights seemed to drag a little even for my tastes.

I thought it was an ok film, could never really understand why it got so many oscars.

USA!!! USA!!! USA!!! etc

Watched The Expendables

Entertaining to a point but poorly executed and ultimately very disappointing film. Even the core element of the film which was action felt like a lazy job and the "awesome guy" dialogue went downhill very quickly after the initial scene (you know what I mean if you seen it).

6/10 but at least half of that is to do with the cast.

USA!!! USA!!! USA!!! etc

The Hurt Locker is about addiction, its got pretty much the same core themes as Point Break (also from Bigelow)... its not entirely realistic, some of the execution is poor and its kind of repetitive.

But the direction is fantastic at points and the story has a multitude of strong points.
