What film did you watch last night?

In Order of Disappearance

Good film for an adult family audience. I watched Cold Pursuit first (the American remake with Liam Neeson) earlier this year which I also enjoyed. After watching the Norwegian original I don't think there was much need for the Neeson version, it's almost filmed scene for scene and the Scandinavian humour also added a bit more.

7/10

Good Time

Turns out Robert Pattinson was doing great acting roles at least a couple of years before The Lighthouse. Same director as Uncut Gems and has a similar kind of intensity. I really liked the style but I think it's a bit of a love it or hate it kind of film.

Better man - 6.5 out of 10
Went to see with the wife, I’m not a real fan.

Interesting concept, works well as a film, but I feel Robbie is too young for one of these types of films (or still alive)

But left thinking Robbie has no redeeming traits tbh, which is not what I guess the film should do (ie the character arc is all bad tbh)

Finally got round to catching up on all the MCU that I've fallen behind on:

Thor Love and Thunder - the weakest of them all so far, kinda felt a bit ridiculous for most of it but felt it ended strongly. 6/10

Black Panther Wakanda Forever - 7/10 - never really clicked with the BP films but thought it was just OK.

Ant Man Quantumania - I LOVED the first one, thought the second one was a step down and it lost a lot of the charm of what made the first one fun - all the Honey I Shrunk the Kids vibe has just totally gone and is missing from this one too sadly. It had its moments though 6/10

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 - 8/10 a solid edition - still won't beat the first one which blew me away in the cinema.

The Marvels and Deadpool/Wolverine next....

Willow (1988)

Haven't seen it for years and although I wasn't a big fan of it originally it's quite watchable today in a quaint and charming sort of way. The nostalgia it gives me isn't for the film itself, but for the way films used to be made.

Maybe I'll give the TV show a chance. Although my hopes aren't high with Disney's TV shows, I don't think I've got very far with any of the spin off shows.

Armour 1/10, it's comical how bad it is, if it came out in early 90's - 00's it would be a 4/10. The young co-driver is annoying AF, he's enough to make you want to turn it off - it was for me anyway.

Went on a little nostalgia trip after enjoying The Great Circle on PC:

Indiana Jones & The Raiders of the Lost Ark
8/10

Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom
7/10

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade
7/10

I know I'll be in the minority here, but I preferred Temple of Doom out of the 3 films. All 3 are decent though and I'm glad you stopped at no.3, as that's as far as it goes. There wasn't a no.4 or a no.5.

Fury (2014) - 9/10

Went into this expecting a glammed up WW2 film. Yeah, I was wrong. This was really good - dark with absolutely fantastic acting from the entire cast. It portrayed the impact of war on ones mind and what it can turn you into.

The whole cast was brilliant, and some of the scenes were incredibly tense especially a certain scene in a house situated in a German town. The Atmos sound effects were stellar. The last time I ducked whilst on my sofa was a few years ago watching Band of Brothers - this made me do it again as a tank shell whistled overhead past Brad Pitts grizzled crew.

Yet to watch all the extras (iTunes). For £3.99 this was a steal.

The Sugarland Express (1974)

One of the few Speilberg I haven't seen (1941, Lincoln & West Side Story)

It actually was pretty decent, especially for the type of film it was. It starts out almost as a comedy, but gradually gets a bit darker as it moves on. But as it moves on the film seems more interested in showing car crashes and shootouts l, than developing the characters any further.
