What film did you watch last night?

Lawerence of Arabia - 9/10
They don’t make them like they used to.

Soppy art college graduate turns out be a closeted
narcissistic psychopath
after the death of his two young boys and leads a brutal Arab revolt against the Turks during WWI.

O’Toole does great playing the conflicted officer but Omar Sherif is also outstanding as his Arab 2nd in command trying to limit his bloodlust.

Reacher (2012) - 7.5/10

I've enjoyed the TV show, but I thought now I've read 'One Shot' (the book this movie's based on) earlier this year, I should check out the movie again. Definitely, Cruise is miscast as Jack Reacher, but it's still a solid story, told well.

Thorne: Scaredycat - 6.5 / 10

Another movie based on a book (this one by Mark Billingham) which was okay, but they changed some rather key parts of the story, and not for the good IMO.

Where as i thought it was a 5/10 at best

Wicked- 5/10
Started ok but just ended up being generic Disney pap with bad songs that were probably written by ai. Still can't beat the originals.
Disney pap and Songs written by AI? You are warehouse this was a stage musical first right and the movie is from that. Which was original written as a book in the 90s. Nowt to do with Disney.

Ben Hur (1959)

I've seen most of the film before, but this is the first time I've watched it from the opening credits. It still holds up surprisingly well. Some scenes drag on far too long and the acting can be overly theatrical at times, but that was pretty normal for a film this old. The shear spectical is very still impressive, massive sets, thousands of extras, all those costumes. The chariot race is still the highlight and as good as any other action sequence you'd see today.

8/10

Unless historians have revised their opinions recently, the chariot race in Ben Hur was also considered to be historically accurate. Unlike a lot of the Roman gladiatorial stuff in other movies.

Yes I'm awarehouse this isnt an actual Disney film it just comes across as one due to the cookie cutter story and songs, my comment was just poorly worded. The Mrs saw the stage musical in London when it came out and really liked it, this not so much.

We live in time - was expecting just a generic rom-com but it's not that at all. Garfield and Pugh have great chemistry but the jumping between times distracted me a bit as sometimes it's not always clear what period we are in. 7/10
