What film did you watch last night?

Cube and Cube Zero I would rate 8.5/10 Hypercube I'd go with about 6.75/10

Last night I watched The Blob :D LOL strangest horror i've ever seen

Good for 1958 though :)

I made the mistake of watching Let me in :(

The original was an amazing piece of film making imho, nothing short of spectacular. Really impressed with the pace, feel, atmosphere and relationships in the film along with the beautiful shots and sound and direction. It was a childs film about friendship that happened to have vampires in it.

The remake :( is imho, clearly trying to be a vampire film with kids in it, it feels stale and is clearly trying to get a cut of the Twilight cake with the vampire factor. The only way I can describe it, is even the shots that are exactly the same, just feel like they're missing something, that little magic spark has gone. Don't feel the cast and their relationships work either.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) 3/10

Bleh, as usual Jackie Earle Haley is superb, unfortunately that just makes the rest of the film look even worse that in is.

I quite liked the "micro naps" thing, it allows them to do some pretty cool stuff, however it was always a bit obvious when the shifts took place.

One thing I really think they failed with was the "was he guilty or was he not" thing, as it was painfully obvious within about 20 minutes what the answer was yet they continue to make a massive deal about it being a mystery. Also the ending and SPOILER WARNING "bringing Freddie into our world is the only way to kill him" was so bloody weak, hell even the Dream Warriors "We can beat him with the power of our imaginations" was better than that bull.

It also rips off massive parts of the first movie off, I know it's supposedly a reboot/remake but it's just annoying.

I want to say however that as a horror movie, it's not half bad, it has some pretty creepy scenes and as Elm Street movies go, it's far from the worst.

I watched Inception last night too...

I thought it had potential - worked pretty well for me, but I have to admit it did make my brain ache a little bit!

Probably give it a 6.5/10 :)

Probably the worst horror remake I've seen yet, absolutely horrible.

Any big twist in particular, or just one for the sake of having one?

Watched Collateral. Great movie. 7.5/10.

Having a big twist at the end leaves the film open to more action in the next film if they decide to make one.

I would have hoped for maybe the girl to go through some danger, maybe if she attacked more people, just a few things really which would have topped the film off at the end.

There is no art. There are only cash cows.

Inception...meh

Yeah I thought exactly the same, huge disappointment for me :(

Just finished watching The Sorcerer's Apprentice:

I thought it was actually pretty good, given that Nick Cage wasn't too bad (if a bit unbelievable) as the master/teacher and Jay Baruchel portrayed a slightly strange main character

You cant fault the Disney special effects that's for sure and no one could argue Teresa Palmer was hot as Becky Barnes :D

The Tom Cruise film?
Are you speaking about a different film?
What are you talking about, twist?

On the Waterfront - Had never seen it, really enjoyed it. Film about dock workers in the 50's and the corruption that they face with Marlon Brando. 4/5

Spoiler:-

I can't remember the last time I felt like shouting at the screen so much when (at the end) the worker just stood and watched when they could have easily overpowered the 'bosses'.

Watched a few over the past week...

Cloverfield - 8/10 - I'm suprised how much Blu-Ray improves the experience with this. It has to be watched through a powerful home cinema set-up as it has a stomping HD soundtrack, possibly the best I've heard yet. The amount of air coming out of my front ported Q-Acoustic 1050i's made it feel as though the damn thing had just walked past me in the living room! Great stuff.

War of the Worlds - 8/10 - The closest rival to Cloverfield for powerful HD sound, really does add to the experience as the settee is rattling on the tripod scenes :) Picture is very grainy though on BR and doesn't look much different to DVD tbh.

Pandorum - 6/10 - First time I've ever seen this, average film with a decent ending.

Heat & Man on Fire on Blu Ray.

Two of my favourites, excellent watching.

Everyone should give Man on Fire a watch.
