What film did you watch last night?

Past few days...

Hancock - Will Smith is always watchable, so that helped, but all in all this wasn't up to much. The plot was a mess. The two halves felt entirely disconnected. They could have had one film about the reluctant superhero, or one about the mythos that was introduced in the second half, but as it was they crammed the two together and it was much worse for it.

Iron Man - Went into this with no real expectations and was pleasantly surprised to find it was very good. Robert Downey Jr. did a great job and his timing was great. His dry dialogue really worked. Jeff Bridges was a good villain, even if his arc was a bit silly. Will have to watch number 2 now.

Saw Drive Angry 3D last night, it kept jumping the border between bad and so bad it's good. Cage was, well, Cage. Amber Heard was a little superfluous. The best character was The Accountant played by the FBI guy from Prison Break.
The 3D though was crazy, I can only assume they shot it with cameras a couple of metres apart to really accentuate the effect because it was no subtle. But unlike, for example, Final Destination 3D where they occasionally over egg it for effect, this was full on 3D in your face nearly all the way through. One example of where it was obvious and poorly done was a scene where your left eye sees a massive lens flare and glare from the sun, but your right doesn't because the sun is obscured by part of the background.

Watched Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.

Both very good, don't really like giving scores as they change depending on moods.

But I prefered Mononoke to Spirited away.

I've seen Spirited Away and I have Mononoke waiting for me on the PVR, as and when I get round to it.

I saw Ponyo a while back, but didn't think much of it.

Yeah I was the same, I watched it too to see what the "fuss" was about. Ended up turning off part way through, not because of the "horror" but because it was just so damned dull.

End was pretty messed up.

Spoiler:

The Asian guy slits his throat and the girl at the end dies living the girl in the middle alive. This happens while the German guy is in a gun fight with the police and takes bullet to the forehead.

:/

Gonna go watch "The Serbian Movie". I've seen all the gore/shock movies out there. Have to keep adding to my collection. Can't be any worse than August.

Just finished watching "A Serbian Movie".

lol what a load of rubbish. After spending an hour on IMDB reading all the reviews for this movie, they made it sound like the worst thing ever made. Its not, to me anyway. I guess once you've seen real murders on the internet(Russian hammer kids), fake murders just don't shock. Not sure why I even want to be shocked.

I'm hungry, must eat. Don't waste your time with this movie.

Have you seen Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind?

The best of all of them in my opinion.

+1 ^^^ THIS Has Capn Picard and Commander Adama in it as well ;)

Howls Moving Castle is a good un as well tho.

Watched Paul at cinema....utter utter garbage :( Luckily Hot Fuzz was on telly later that day.....by the powah of Greyskull! :)

I watched Forbidden Planet for the first time in years Tuesday, which was very good :)
I'm currently watching the extra's on the Blu-ray on and off (a couple of documentaries, the "sequel" and an episode of a TV series that borrowed Robbie).

Spirited Away and Mononoke are both fun, but I prefer Laputa :) (I'm hoping they'll bring out the blu-ray for that soon).
