What film did you watch last night?

Hmmm watched a few movies yesterday...went to see Rango at the cinema with my mate and his kids...that was good fun and the movie wasnt too bad tbh.

Ended up watching Little fockers last night, which i thought wasnt too bad but then ive never been a big fan of the fockers series of movies...

Also watched Tron legacy as well, which i thought was pretty damn decent really....that girl was hot so definitely worth watching for her:p.

Source Code - 9/10

Massively surprised by this film, I wasn't that interested in seeing it but was dragged along anyway. Well I have to say I'm glad I did because I would say it's the best film I've seen this year.

However there is a rather colossal "but" that has to be applied, the above rating is on a condition and that is it discounts the last 5 minutes of the film. The "ending", or rather what I am from now on calling the ending, is one of the most powerful I've ever seen, it's incredible and it really took me by surprise, I compare it to the end of Inception in a way, it's a "did it/didn't it, did he/didn't he" scene, it leaves it up to the viewer to wonder and ponder on it.....and then the film goes on into 5 minutes of utter pointlessness which serves no purpose other than to devalue what has just happened by trying to be dramatic.

That last 5 minutes really made me angry and in no uncertain terms ruined it for me, however, the film leading up to that is absolutely brilliant and I would urge anyone thinking about going to see it to do just that.

Also have to say Duncan Jones really is a Director to keep an eye on.

Let Me In - Like Twilight but awesome. Instead of a sparkling gayboy Vampire it was a 12 year old psycho girl vampire who can run up trees, fly and spontaneously combusts in the sun. Slow to start but a fantastic movie in my opinion! Give it chance.

Black hawk down on blu ray, not all that faithful to the book, but great action film all the same. 8/10.

Never let me go

I wasn't expecting much judging from the title, the cover, and Kiera Knightly being in it, but was actually pleasantly surprised, very good film, although a little annoying at times.

7/10

This weekends blu-ray viewings;

Yojimbo - Superb movie as expected from Kurosawa. Never realised that Leone's Fistful of Dollars is basically a western version of this movie. 9/10

The Killer - Great John Woo movie. The same can't be said about the blu-ray transfer. 8/10 for movie

Sanjuro - The follow-up to Yojimbo. Not as good as Yojimbo but still another good movie from Kurosawa 8/10

Machete - Massive let down for me this. Just felt it had very little story. 5/10

The Fighter.

Christian Bale was great!

But that's about all I have which is positive to say.

The the fight scenes were not very realistic but that is small fry. I felt that the script and the overall feel of the story was lacking, it should have been better. Some very important characters just failed to have an impact or presence, not because of poor acting but because of.. I'm not sure poor script wrting/producing/directing?

I'm not sure, but I know this film should have been better than the end product we see.

Battle: Los Angeles

Was ok in a waste 2 hours on a sunday afternoon kind of way.

I felt it was maybe 25-30 minutes too long and the story wasnt there as such.

5.5/10

piranha 3d on blu-ray.

One of those films that is so bad but at the same time so amusing that you just have to watch the rest of it!

Some of the effects + kills are just so lol :)
