What have you done to your car today?

Yes, if there is noticeable play either in-out or side-side it's probably past it, if the blades contact the housing at all it's definitely finished.

Just checked this now, there is noticeable play moving side to side. Probably 3mm of play. When spinning it definitely catches as I can head the blades touching metal.

Least I know that's past it... time to hunt a reconditioned one now.

Sold it! :D

Probably the last pic I'll ever take of it:

After just under 20k miles in my ownership, costs were as follows:

Cost of car: £4000
+ Sold wheels for £700
-£300 tyres for other wheels I had in the garden.
-£100 battery
-£300 brakes
-£120 coolant reservoir
-£200 service
-£25 aircon service

= £4345 cost of car and maintenance.

Sold the car with a few weeks MOT remaining for £5700, so "profit" of £1355. I suppose that goes some way towards paying for the fuel :p

Nothing for a few months, then depending what country I decide to stay in, probably another fully depreciated V8 / V12 barge. I'm going to try to avoid yet another Jag but if someone offers me a great deal it may still happen :p

I have a poorly Subaru at the moment that can't be driven, so I'm borrowing my brother's Leon Cupra R (MK1).

She's covered some 150k miles. Previous owner spent some money on it to keep it mechanically sound but gave up in the end and sold it to my brother.

This week I've been sorting niggles for him. First was a 'dodgy' fluid warning sensor. Empty washer bottle :D

Next up was a new MAF sensor. Car was running rough with the old one plugged in so he unplugged it - new one in and fault codes gone.

It has a Forge 007P fitted. I had a service kit from back when I had my Octavia vRS so I pulled it out, degreased it and put it all back together. Revised piston too so it should be good for a few thousand miles.

Weekends job is to fix the plug for the NSF brake pad warning sensor. Clip is broken so it keeps working loose and putting the light on.

Nope, wheels are not a mod. Another set of wheels will allow you to alternate, choose and change consumable tyres much easier than if you just had the one set. It is a functional addition to the maintenance of your vehicle :)

So the engine has used about 1 litre of oil in 1.5k miles. Apparently within specs for the car but it seems to be worse now that it’s cold.

Leads me to believe the CCV may be gunked up, as is common for the M54 engine, so I’m looking at replacing it all and figured I may as well stick the cold climate version in. My commute is 7 miles each way, so my thinking is the CCV condensation may not be clearing fully. Insulated pipes should mean no condensation, or at least less!

Rx8 usage haha.. my n52 doesn't use any. Last 5k miles I topped up 300ml but that was due to oil leak.
