What have you done to your car today?

Cant that check just be coded out

Left it in my work carpark, came out, wouldn't start. Spent £80 on a new battery, turns out the problem is most likely the control module in the steering column. Official diagnosis tomorrow afternoon, but assuming it is what I think, I'm looking at about £2k or potentially more to fix it as everything's coded, so it can only be repaired by the main dealer. Not a great introduction to Audi ownership.

The Dodge Caliber with peeling paint and creaking suspension I bought off my gf's family for shed money continues to run perfectly, every cloud....

Picked her up! A lot of welding done, the whole chassis and body should be sound now, also undersealed. While it was there, all the red was given a blow over, and all the chrome trim was removed from the sides, all the lettering and badges from around the car, and the reverse lights removed (old aftermarket add-ons). Also had the aerial removed, wing mirrors removed, and the holes filled. Major repairs to the arches, both inner and outer.

Once I got her home, I addressed the mirror situation (i.e none). I used the mirror part of one peep mirror and adapted it to the stalk of another one. Pretty fair vision now.

Also drilled out my little Tiki and turned it into a gear knob for the column shift:

Changed the oil in the ZT. Service intervals are 15k but I think I'll go down to 12k after looking at the oil that came out.

It's been such a good car so far that I treated it to a Synergy 2 tuning box that I picked up unused for £100. Takes the 115bhp ZT to about 145bhp (and the 135 to 160bhp) and of course a hike in torque. It is pretty slow in its current form. Should be here early next week.
