What have you done to your car today?

Split my gearbox open today. I was amazed at how clean it was for a box that's pushing 30 years old. I guess it was low mileage as I was promised when I bought it. Ordered a Quaife LSD for it so will be ordering some new diff bearings and all new seals etc. Will give it a wash out inside and out and a fresh lick of paint. Then on with the rest of the engine.

What are you currently doing to it? i havent been keeping up. Last thing I saw was you putting in a Vectra steering wheel or cluster or something.

Still Saab powered?

You're doing well to remember that! Erm, yes, I fitted Corsa B EPAS steering column, to ditch all the hydraulics, that works fantastically well.

Still Saab powered yes. End of 2016 I had turbo failure so it came off the road. It currently sits with the front end entirely bare, awaiting some paint as I've smoothed some stuff out in the engine bay, stitch welded some joints, removed the battery tray and other bits like that.

I have a new turbo and engine is in bits for a full rebuild. Hoping to have it back on the road by June at the latest! Got tons of new bits, new ally radiator, bigger intercooler, paddle clutch.. plan for some 4-pot brakes also.

Looks a mess right now!

More power yes, I have a GTX2867R to replace the old GT28RS. Should see me 400+ easily on that. Rebuild is due to it being a bit of a tired engine. It had done 130k and was running well over double factory power on original bearings and rings etc! I managed to get hold of a ported head too which will help things along a little. I was never happy with the engine bay though, rust spots, messy wiring and pipes etc.

Which reminds me, I've also removed the entire wiring loom from behind the dash. Removed all unnecessary wiring (a carrier bag full!), and integrated all the extras I've put in like gauges, electric power steering. And the Saab wiring is now all part of the original fuse box, relays and fuses all in just like they were meant to be there. The Saab engine harness then plugs into the dash loom via a big block connector.

Good luck with that.. xD might be a Facebook buy after all.. you should be able to pull of an NB for that but it'll be rotten.

They're not as pricey as you think if you look in the right places. :p

Yours is a nice example hence its price. My red one was like £700, top spec, new paint and sills, just needed some chassis rail work (like all NB's) but it wasn't terrible yet..

Yea but I'd rather pay a bit extra and have no rott haha! Or oil leaks or need for a new lump:D

Do it tho, summer is coming, roof down is fun!! I drop my top as often as I can. Even if my face is freezing.

Hows yours in terms of condition? Mileage? Did it come with mods? Hard top?

Paintwork is not bad at all,has a few dings here and there as expected for 23yo mx5..

Got it at 94k miles,157k km

Underbody was fully undersealed by mx5 restorers and also dynatrol in cavities.. body work has no rust bar a small bubble on pillar..

Did come with a 6 point roll cage, flyin Miata fully adjustable suspension and mx5 parts exhaust. Rest is stock s special spec so bracing all over the place, lsd, some interior crap like steering wheel etc. But still very basic mx5.

Other than that nothing else :) would want a hardtop but hard to find.. will pick one up when I get a chance.

I aimed for rott free mx5 didn't care about much else.

This one is 100% bone stock, 1.8S UK, 1997, silver with original hard top, 40,000 miles from new, Torsen type 1, appears to be immaculate inside and out. Friend of mine is selling it who is quite local so I can view it properly etc. Wants a swap with my Corolla. (2.3~K)

My main concern to be honest, is that it is too good for me! I would want to at the very least change the suspension and wheels, and I'd also want to skid it occasionally... But it looks like a show queen not a drift pig...
