Looks like I've got some issues with my car or the remap. Yesterday I was driving along on the A3 with cruise on at 70 and after about 25 miles I got "Engine Malfunction" appear on the dash display and the car went into limp mode. I had an OBD dongle on me so used Torque to see what the code was and got:

codes.jpg

Fired the car up again and it was fine for the other 30 miles or so and then the 55 mile return journey later that evening too. However today it did it again within about 15 miles and once again turning the engine off and on again made it come out of limp mode.

So, is it likely to be something with the map? I'm going to get the stock map put back on anyway. Or is something possibly up with my turbo and the map has just highlighted that there's an issue? All the hoses have been inspected both before and after the remap so I'm pretty sure there's no boost leaks.

Yea sounds like the map may have different target loading values different across the range. Speak to the tuner and ask them to investigate. If the tuner cannot, get base map and run a mile....

Either boost leak, sticky wastegate (or bad boost solenoid), bad diverter valve or stuck VNT vanes.

Likelihood is its not an issue caused by the map but highlighted due to the increased boost targets as part of the map

Enjoyed a lovely summer evening drive down to Stratford yesterday. Some nice metal metal out enjoying themselves and loads of bikers. I should probably drive more often for the sake of it, but an extended rear facing car seat is simply not an option in the 911!

Cambelt and PowerShift fluid change on the Mondeo yesterday and this morning - thought I'd take advantage of a couples of days annual leave after my graduation and the weather - although getting under the car with a hangover yesterday morning wasn't exactly what I'd call fun! No photos as seeing the colour of my gloves I didn't fancy picking up my phone!

Only had the car for less than two weeks so it was nice to get a proper look underneath - nothing of concern so that pleased me :)

Replaced both (left & right) track/tie rods and ends as they had seized and fused together which had meant my alignment/tracking couldn't be done and I had lots of negative toe, now I have lots of positive toe. I might do a quick home alignment tomorrow but I'll have it booked in for proper alignment next week.

Cleaned alloy wheels at 8.00 this morning while car was still in shade - Later got vac out and used blower to get rid of dust inside car - we have fields all round us and it's sandy soil - absolute nightmare - just got to wait till 9.30 this evening to wash it - been debating whether to wait even longer and do it in light of security lights and pee off nasty neighbour over the road.

Washed and hoovered as always on a Sunday. Not overly happy with the finish on the outside because of the sun drying the water in some places (even though I was out at 8AM), but I cannot be bothered with more than a quick wash in this weather. Plus it'll be covered in dust by Monday afternoon so nobody apart from me will know the difference.

Removed the washer bottle, cleaned it and the filters for the pumps because there has been a leak from one of the pumps/pipe that connects to it for the last couple of weeks. Hasn't leaked since putting it back together, but imagine I'll need to get another pump anyway, it isn't even a 2 minute job so not fussed. Also removed the rain/light sensor which was actually a replacement for the original one, cleaned off all of the adhesive and then re-mounted the original sensor with the replacement lens to try and get rid of the air bubbles that were there previously. Looks a lot better now and a quick test of the headlights by blocking off the light to the sensor with my hand seems to suggest that the light sensor is working again at least, where as yesterday evening I held a torch right up to the sensor to replicate daylight and the lights stayed on (wasn't even dark at the time anyway).

Next jobs will be new boot struts (making the standard E46 groaning noise when opening) and replace a couple of trim clips on the driver's door. Just ordered the replacements for those and can do both of those in the week when the parts arrive. Next few weeks will be two new rear tyres and I really should swap the main thermostat considering I've had the replacement for a while now. Would also like to get the air conditioning working again, but by the time I get to that this hot weather might've decided to cool off to a much more manageable lower 20s temperature.

Just wish the thing would stop rusting really because I'd be fairly happy with it otherwise. Keeping an eye out for an E90 at the moment though so aside from the tyres I don't want to be spending mega amounts on the car.

Exactly what I'm going to do. When contacting him he basically just said that it's something up with the car that needs investigating at a specialist and while he's probably right, it didn't do it before the map so I need it reverted to stock so I can at least drive the car until it's booked in at a garage. Just need to wait until Wednesday for that.

Just me that's confused by that exhaust system?:confused::confused:

What are the 2 small pipes for?
Resonators Its a HKS design knockoff. Thats how Original HKS looks for 350z ofc 300% price.
I picked up this second hand for 170 pounds with decats and O2 sensors. Sold my Cobra catback for 150 and ended up with 20 quid for upgrade :]

It's True dual not using Y pipe like most of 350z catbacks.

I've never seen one before - that was all :)

Helmholtz resonators if you want to go technical, I can't remember the exact maths or science behind it but they are used to dampen drone at a particular RPM.

They're used as part of inlet design as well to improve cylinder fill

Thanks :)
