What have you done to your car today?

You're evidently looking at a different advert to me then, as the word swap doesn't appear in it

"No P/X unless it is for a MK1/2 MX5 with a value of <£1000"

You are at least vaguely aware that eBay adverts can be edited, right? And that Acme has indeed edited it, evidenced by his own statements?

Dreamers and tyre kickers need not enquire, test drives subject to proof of funds and valid insurance. I have a walkaround video I can send to anyone with serious interest.

Lol, it's a Corolla not a Ferrari.

I would also be careful stating things like "No issues whatsoever". If someone buys the car and then decides it has a laundry list of problems (caused by them or otherwise) and consequently things hit the proverbial fan, then it might make it harder for you to prove that the car was sold as seen and the buyer should have done his homework etc.

Yes, but I didn't edit that part. Sorry bro. :(

Trust me, you still get dreamers when selling this sort of car... People who turn up in a tracksuit to sniff around it and then offer you £500.

Fair point on the latter.

Took my car to Halfrauds for a new car seat for my granddaughter, firstly the muppets advised me I couldn’t fit a seat because the car had reversed belts (the buckle clips in by the door rather than in the middle as such) then I was told I needed an Isofix seat (which the e38 doesn’t have mountings for)

Eventually gave up and decided to use the old seat I already have (which fits perfectly) - absolutely clueless!

Stuck my broken E39 up on eBay.

Weather was bitter over the weekend and I fancied spending more time playing Red Dead Redemption 2 than cleaning the car and taking new photos, so I went with some old ones:

Surprised it's at more than £50 tbh...
I’m not surprised at all at the current bidding tbh,my old 530i had a dead gearbox (your right, they stick in third when they fail) and the head gasket had failed, the engine was full of the dreaded “mayonnaise”

Iirc mine eventually went for around £750, the buyer drove it to Scunthorpe and I believe it was exported to Eastern Europe where such cars fetch surprisingly good money albeit in parts....

Good advert by the way.

Appreciated mate!

I'd love £750 to be honest, I've already had a tonne of interest (40+ watchers and 500+ views in 24 hours). I'm very keen to see where it gets to now you've said that. Only paid £1,700 for it last year in fully working condition...

Drove it to work as usual .... but it was sub zero and all the cars around me were frozen solid. Pre-Conditioning while plugged in defrosted and warmed the car for my departure time ... so as I said I just got in the car and drove to work as usual :)

A first for me at least.

I’d expect you’ll get close to that given mine fetched what it did with a knackered gearbox and engine, whilst granted it was a Sport model the wheels weren’t in great condition nor were they the desirable M-Par’s either and the bodywork was crumbling in all the usual e39 places so basically it’s value was the interior - which was very good overall - and little else.

Yours running well with some history and a verifiable mileage will stand out to somebody wanting either a project or an engine donor car...

Be sure to post what you eventually get for it.

The only part that doesn't rust and snapped. Lol

Looks like the bit that mounts to the front of the diff? Too many hard launches?
Yea broke just before the front of the diff

Your guess is as good as min as to why it broke. Certainly not a common failure item on them and it was an off throttle on throttle transition in traffic at 25-30mph the moment it happened.

PPFs are only £35 and half an hour to swap though

Sold it.

£2200 without the wheels, front strut, Det3, or listed spares.

Wheels will go for £350, ECU £150, strut £50, sump £30, adjustable drop links £40, etc, and that's basically my £2850.

Deposit taken.
