What have you done to your car today?

Bit of a drive, though :D

I need a reasonably local (locations shown in my profile) place that can loan me wheels or a car

I've got some new centre caps on the way though, I reckon they'll make the whole wheels look tidier tbh.

I think I got extremely lucky to find this place down the road from home. I simply drop it off on the way to work (I walk to work) and pick it up on the walk home.

I love that :D

The new specialist is in Fareham though so I gotta drive there and get the train to work and pick it up then drive home after work. £9.50 for a return train ticket and +25~mins for the journey. That's a once a year trip though really.

I had to maintain the Golf today. First time in a long long time.

Was coming home lastnight and realised the headlights were dim.

At 206k miles the original alternator was worn out, so £112 got me a 120A Bosch item (to replace the 90A original)

Hopefully headlights arnt dim anymore

Drive shaft failed on the 206 as I was driving back from a mates, took out pretty much all the consumables on the suspension. ..
Unfortunately couldn't cover the 45 miles to get home to do the job, so had to go to a nearby independent total cost for the day £500 ..

Why not just use your breakdown cover to get it home, then fix it there?

wash and wax last evening. That DIY spray job does look good enough for me :)

Of all the times the car could choose to blow a headlight bulb, it choose to do it tonight on the way home...when I'm due to leave at 3am to catch a ferry to France :/

Luckily it wasn't too onerous to change, but I had to use the one from the spare bulb kit that was gathering dust in the boot. I've kept the old one, so if I do get stopped by an over inquisitive gendarme who wants to inspect all the tat they insist we carry in the car, I can at least say I just had to use it.

Not got a big 24 hour tesco nearby? Our one has head light bulb packs

Not so much done, but bought some bits for the S15.

Only went to get the skirts, but it turned out I went to a treasure trove of JDM goodness. Out the front he had a beautiful S15, round the back he had 2 matching BNR34s, and a shed full of bits, including SpecR engine, sets of Work XD9, Volk TE37, Nismo LMGT4. Basically I wanted all of it. The exhaust was a great price though, 3" with 4.5" exit so I took that also.

Back in the world or cars I can actually see, I tried to extract the ABS sensor from the old hub, as I thought though, it broke in two so will need new one. Hit a kamikaze rabbit last night and broke the front lip off second time in 3 days, lost the remaining fog light too. :/

All these red E46 dash needles are making me want to do mine lol.
It's a good look and takes minutes to take the cluster out.

Here's a before and after, right needles are after if course. That's a year's worth of heat and sunlight. I suppose I could get heat resistive red paint and lacquer it up but that's not really a big issue given the once a year recolour.
