What have you done to your car today?

Can't say I'd expect to snap one on a stock car. Are you sure it's not gearbox related?

Ordered some Pilot sports 3 to be fitted on Thursday and get my tracking set with straight control arms. Car will feel good again :)

No idea tbh, a mechanic friend installed it for me after the old one had been with buggered cv joints for ages with no grease in sight so was super grindy.
He thinks the end going into the gearbox has sheared off and the driveshaft must have been faulty

Topped up with coolant, if it has a leak somewhere will not be best pleased.

Drove it quite a few miles around town and encountered some strange beings. First was an A3 that I let out of a carpark driven by an old dear and filled with girls. The girls in the back turned round and started waving at me as we drove, then as I passed on the left the front passenger waved her phone and mouthed "call me" and kept waving whilst sat behind me at a set of lights.

The second encounter was with some lovely tracksuit laden youths in a Fiesta who decided that "give way to the right" doesn't apply to them. They cut me up leading into a 2 lane merge on the roundabout exit, of which I ended up just in front of them. The poor driver must have suffered a terrible seizure at this point as his full beams started wildly flashing and the horn kept going off as we sat in traffic. They drew level with me and implied that I enjoy the act of pleasuring myself, however my best efforts to diffuse the situation with a friendly smile and wave angered them and he booted it (I assume, there was a lot of noise and not much go) away.

Booked it in to get the wheels refurbed at The Wheel Specialists. They had one of their "never to be repeated" pay for 3 wheels get the 4th free offers on, which I've seen them run at least twice now :)

Now to decide if I stick with the standard silver wheel colour or go for something like Gunmetal or my personal fave choice at the moment, Smoked Chrome.

Standard silver! Even something as simple as changing the wheel colour will take it from subtle car that sounds awesome as standard and goes like hell, to car with untasteful mods that only sounds like it does because it's probably got a phat exhaust/induction kit.

Debadging a car and changing to a rubbish wheel colour are by far the two easiest ways to turn a lovely, classy car into what looks like a 16 year olds wet dream.

Edit: graphite coloured car with smoked/graphite wheels? No no no no no no.

White car with dark alloys only imo!

I agree that dark wheels can make a car look tacky, but I think as long as you keep the wheels a good few shades lighter than the bodywork then it's fine. Sparkling Grey Metallic is a surprisingly dark colour and in my opinion the standard silver a little too bright for it.

This pic gives you a rough idea of the difference between standard silver, gunmetal and smoked chrome against SGM (ignore the black as I'd never go there)

Going by that photo I'd probably go for the gunmetal, but it all depends on how the sample wheels look when I drop it off.

Grey just makes it look like your silver wheels are coated in brake dust and you've not cleaned them :p

Thing is I love how the car looks when I haven't cleaned the wheels for a little while, so that but with a shiney finish would suit me perfectly. That's what I like about the smoked chrome; they're darker, but still bright at the same time if that makes any sense?! :)

I'd go see some of the wheels if I were you. One of the locslcplaces had a viewing bit with all the wheel colours when I was going to get mine done. standard Silver, the BMW silver ( slightly off) and (iirc) high power silver where the only ones that appealed. All the greys looked a bit wrong when out next to the car

It's got to have gone somewhere, so you probably do.

Yep, and it's probably the rad, failing that the rad hoses or stat housing.

Hooray :(

Also, went down a lane I hardly ever do near home as it's narrow, but thought with the time of day it would be fine. Lorry came the other way and I had major spacial awareness fail and curbed an alloy. Passenger was very confused as to my outburst of rage. Thankfully it was the one I damaged the other day when taking it off (drivers side front) so at least it's all contained.

Checked the oil using the dip stick this morning. Oil was very dark (was golden when put in). I'm guessing this is normal enough Oil change is every 10k apparently and I've only done 7k at the moment since I last drained it/replaced filter. (A swine of a job!).

Gave my new (to me) car its first ever clean, also the first time I've done more than a wash & rinse on a car. Did the fabric roof (which is better than it was, but still has the odd green spot from leaves and stuff off trees), rinsed, washed then waxed the bodywork. Gave the wheels a quick wash, but the light was going. Will do them properly tomorrow and will also polish the headlights up, as they could use a bit of work.

It's not perfect by any stretch, but there's a good feeling of satisfaction.
