What have you done to your car today?

Yeah missing a couple I think.

On the list is wheel refurb - when this is done I'll get some new ones all round. :)

Wait, you're not Iain. Or are you? Who's wheel caps was he enquiring about, I must know!

You realise you can buy brand new wheels silly cheap? Like, less than a refurb?

Urgh, maybe next time. But that'd bug the hell out of me :p

It's noticeable from that angle and light but not most of the time, the practicality outweighed the aesthetics I thought, but your call.

While you're hear, I've been meaning to ask - does your car have "lane change" indicators where you push it once and it flashed 3/4 times? I could have sworn my old one did but the new one doesn't... Might have been imagining it though!

Any set of those alloys I've seen have been going for £300+ ??

Nope, I'm 99% sure it doesn't! (But I will check now when I next go out, damn you :p)

Didn't think it was an option on these?

Ah I must have been imagining it!

The wheels - not those styles but you can get new sets of other styles for 249-349. Refurbs in these parts are 60 quid a corner, by the time you buy the centre caps it would be cheaper. Plus, those ones are made of potatoes so won't last too long.

That was before xmas but if you shop around youll be able to get those prices. Neo brothers often have sets on offer too. I like the 17s for 299 on the right myself, although I think the 16s on the left would look ace on yours :D

NB have my wheels in stock... £198 each.

I'll get the refurb I think :D

i really like mine, I think they suit the car perfectly, great size for tyre prices as well - shall be keeping them :)

Jebus. I'd change the style personally although I wonder how those would look in a shinier finish than standard. They seem to be quite matte as standard so something a bit blingier might work well.

OR buy mine for 299 and ill get those 5 spokes :D

But they were never a special brand, they didn't make incredible cars, they were just fairly average if poorly built cars. Take the tuning out of the equation for now, but I'd find a 2.0 petrol rover hatchback much more of a yawnfest than a 2.0 focus.

I've spent a lot of time in a 2.0 Focus (W reg) and conversely in an old 420Si (non turbo), the Focus was astronomically boring.

Granted, the Rover was too - but overall on ride quality and general enjoyment the Rover wins, as a passenger anyway.

I also test drove a 1.8 petrol Focus (51 reg) and it was also boring. The 400 actually has a tiny, TINY bit of life, the Focus just felt so dull and lifeless.

As tempting as you make that sound...no ta :p

If you ever want to swap rear lights though, I'm up for that :D

I'll sort a refurb out in a couple of months after my holiday :)

Cleaned it & then took it to my first MX5 meet over Cov, Was close to 25 MX5's all together, Right friendly bunch & great to see so many 5's in the one place to compare/chat about.

Get yourself on the Saab forums - a quick google brings up a few threads of people with newer ones enquiring about fitting older ones and wanting to swap!

I'm impartial about them - they're ok. I suspect on black they'd look a lot less obvious though

Do I? Not received anything.... I don't know if the email in my trust is accurate, not used it for years and years. Message me in FB - it was you that messed up my face a while ago? Although if you're offering to buy my lights, it's a no :p

lol I'm not trying to steal your lights! :p

I don't have you on FB, I'll trust message you. :D

Gawd, what a palava!

Well, just to keep this thread updated...

I decided to give the car a once over with a fine tooth comb, as I'd never actually checked anything properly until now. Main bits:

- Jacked it up, all 4 wheels off for inspection of alloys, brakes and suspension
- Check of underneath engine for leaks etc
- Under body check, remove sill trims to check for rust, check exhaust system over
- Check of all pipework for rust, leaks and other issues

After all that, the only issue I could find is that the coolant and fuel rail (metal) is corroded, but not to the point of worry.
Everything else seems OK, touch wood!

Also, I must get around to fitting the new starter contacts, although it's been behaving recently.

More yesterday, but didn't have time to post. Fixed a missfire that had developed. Lovely French electronics.

No fault codes showing apart from the missfire, so presumed it wouldn't be injectors. Click and Collect @ ECP gave me a Coilpack and HT Leads. Swapped the leads, still missfired. Arse. So Coilpack swapped and sorted, thank god.

Took it on a quick test drive, and noticed a rattle from the front. Completley forgot I'd removed the anti-rattle shims from my front carriers to see if it fixes a slight issue I've been having, and thats what the rattle is hah.

Really really needs a clean.
