What have you done to your car today?

Mine's going that way too, I've noticed a few bubbles on the rear arch :( It should be fine for the MOT next month, maybe not next year :/ Rather spend the money sooner rather than later though, less rust to cut out :p

It's not just the mk1s either, the mk2.5s are now known for the chassis rails rotting

Seen the pics of the mk2.5 chassis rot  Wasn't there some action going on in the states with owners? I know they're quite organised at jumping on Manufacturers there for stuff like that. The amount it cost the guy would just write the cars off to be fair, unless you start bodging it but as it's such a major component of the car I'd be worried in a crash (even if left)

Friend of mine's 2.5 has just had his sills, rear arches and rear lower wish bones done, seems like a right PITA. Mine just rusts in the rear arches and if caught and maintained is fine..which is comparatively quite lucky

Car wouldn't fire this morning, been having some problems with the EPC and I’ve noticed the battery voltage dipping, so ran out and picked up a new Bosch silver battery, thought I’d change the plugs at the same time.

Still wouldn't start, car finally threw out a fault code relating to the Crank speed sensor, new one ordered along with a coolant temp sensor, going to have fun trying to fit those tomorrow

Stupid cars.

Pumped the passenger side rear tyre up (slow puncture) and drove to the gym and back (obviously inducing lift-off oversteer at every corner... using my left foot to steer and my right hand to accelerate, like a pro).

What car is that on? I had exactly the same error on my 330 after my battery died last week and it turned out that the engine was flooded, it wasn't a fault with the crank speed sensor at all.

The garage replaced the battery and whipped out the plugs to remove any excess fuel to get the car going again.

Another MX5... another bill for rust

:p

It's my own fault, I put off getting it done last year as I didn't have the time to be without a car. I was hoping it would get through the MOT with just advisories & get it done before summer but there were two holes on the O/S sill :(

Wish I could get a quote like that for my Mk2, most places around here want £600-£700 per side!

Best I have had. Was quoted around £600+vat per side last year but the local MX-5 specialist who has been doing the work on it pointed me in the direction of the place he get's his sorted. Just got to wait now as they can't get it in until the 2nd of April. Stuck driving my mums 206 :o

Had a few chores to do in the motor today so was pleased to see a bit of snow falling about the place, Didn't settle though.
Anyways I found out what was causing an annoying squeaky kind of noise from behind me towards the passenger side, When I stopped outside my mates house I had a quick look & noticed a small piece of off white where black paint had been rubbed off just by the soft top clip & where it secures when down. Unclipped it, Noise gone.
The smallest job so far but I couldn't let a day pass without doing anything could I. :D

Checked out a few sensors with my snap-on vantage lab scope, here's a shot or two of the MAF sensor test:

Some of the loom insulation is a bit shot, sorting that out too :-/

Hit a horrid unseen pothole going 30mph which made rather a large noise/bang but can't see or feel any damage.

Hopefully it was nothing, just very loud!

Que days of worrying about the sleightest odd feeling through the steering wheel.:(

Needs a 4 wheel alignment anyway soon as i have just done the front bushes and the steering wheel is not straight/at the 12 0 clok position when driving straight so even if it knocked the tracking out a bit it wont be the end of the world.

The roads in Surrey are utterly atrocious.

Ditched the F1AS2 off the front and put BS RE070 on. Binned Avon ZZ3 worn to the canvas rears and replaced with Neova AD08.

Tweaked the setup a bit.

Honestly I think this is the best the car has ever been, never ran with this little rear toe before. A-line Dudley are winners for sure.

Are there any days when 4T5 doesn't polish his motor :p

He must be losing mpg through the weight of all that wax ;)

They are building a few hundred houses down the road from me, I just went out for a tinker & it's covered in dust again. :( Gave it a wipe over & came back in to sulk. :p

Also any loss due to weight is made up via slipstream extreme. :D

Not strictly today, but Tuesday I drained the fuel tank, checked all the rear suspension, arbs etc. were tight, removed the Nur Spec.

Tonight should hopefully involve at least fitting the track exhaust and maybe a few other jobs.

Swapped the front speakers over in the Range Rover, the ones I fitted a while back appear to have failed.

Also ordered a replacement front end LPG kit before my Euro road trip, the one fitted was a cheap stop-gap solution.

Ordered some more panels for the BGT too.

Oh, and collected yet another Range Rover last weekend.
