What have you done to your car today?

Morning,

Changed the fuel filter today as the car had a check injection message, someone suggested changing it. Not made a difference at all. However my OBD2 reader arrived so plugged it in and I've got 3 fault codes.

P2263 Turbocharger Boost Performance
P0235 Turbocharger Boost Pressure Sensor A Circuit
P0409 EGR Sensor A Circuit

Does this mean the EGR and Boost Pressure Sensor are faulty? I've unplugged the EGR and now don't have a fault code but low on performance still.

Probably means the EGR valve is stuck open so exhaust gas is constantly being drawn through the engine meaning the turbo can't get sufficient boost.

Cheers, I cleaned the EGR a week ago and then took it out today and it's caked in soot again. I mean loads. I will buy another or a blanking plate as I've been recommended them.

Today a nice mobile mech is coming to fit the Bilstien b8 shocks to my car :)
I bought a full set if top mounts for them too. I'm hoping they can reuse the old bump stops from the original rears.

Hopefully... no more knocking from drivers side front and rear passenger side.

Took the car out for a spin this morning and when I returned it refused to lock, it appears that the passenger side lock has given up the ghost :( This is of course a problem as the car is due to be my wedding car next weekend and it would be useful if I was actually able to lock it.

I really can't be doing with stripping it down in the week so might just garage it, use it for the wedding and fix after. In reality there are a ton of jobs that she still needs. Whenever I think it's pretty much where I want it, it surprises me again with something else breaking.

And to think I was going to order some new wheels for it today. What do people think of the BBS SR btw? I really wanted the CH-R on my car but the 11j rear and offset just isn't going to work on a NB car. The SR however will with an 8j front and a 10j rear.

I really don't know if they will suit my car but there really isn't many other options in the 8j & 10j, the Bola wheels are nice but again they are 8j & 9j fitment which is right for the C2 but not my C4. Anybody know of any other nice options?

The plan is that the car will be sitting on Ohlins and the suspension work that is half done completed early in the new year, some ride height adjustment is also on the cars. Nothing mental or overkill but just a slight drop to lessen the arch gap.

Why not just lock the pas door from the inside before getting out and using the fob to lock the rest?

Also, those wheels won't suit your particular car. Those wheels are better suited to a more aggressive/masculine body shape I'd say! (not saying your car is a girl's car or anything of course :p)

There is no lock for the passenger door inside :( there is a button on the dash to lock the doors but it wont lock the passenger door since its given up. There is also no external manual lock on that door. I can get the rest of the car locked just not the passenger side.

This is what the SR might look like on a C4 Cab that has been slightly lowered (image nabbed from bbs configurator site):

Please stick to standard Porsche alloys.

If I could find a set of Sport Classic 2 Splits or Sport Design Splits (both made by bbs) in a 8 and 10 I would be all over them. Problem is the last time a set of sport classic 2's came up which would be my preferred wheel they went before I could even get in touch with the fella.

Why only stick to Porsche rims?

Mind you there is a set on ebay at the moment with a 7.5 front:

They would really need a change of colour though.

So, last Wednesday I wanted to have a play around with the satnav unit as there hasn't been a picture on the onboard screen for ages. First thing that happens is I drop an extension and socket down a gap and can't see/retrieve it with a magnet.

No problem I thought, will leave it until the weekend when I can take a look in the light and palm the baby off on SWMBO.

30 minutes ago I clear out the boot, take the internal plastic sill trim off and get the bits out easily, however I notice some wet/rust and wanted to take a photo to show the old man.

Drop my phone, it goes under the LPG tank (in the spare wheel well) and I hear it drop it to the lower well meaning no hope of reaching it without the tank removal.

Fortunately my old man is a qualified LPG fitter as there's no chance I'd even play around with any of that. I'm sure there's a lesson to learn here, and it probably involves not waving my phone about when doing any kind of work on the car...

Haven't driven the Dodge for a while and in that duration the MOT's expired - so, with a day off at hand, I slung it in for a test.

... which it promptly failed, hah! Only a few minor things, though (one ball joint, few light tweaks, parking brake needed tensioning again). All sorted in due course.

Almost matched the MG, though!

Drove it in the rain for the first time on the return leg. First time it's been on the road in the rain for 11 years, too.

New shocks and mounts on the rear... only to find knocking is still there.

Sigh...

will pop over to motor factors in the morning and pick up some anti roll bar links and fit them myself

Went down to the tyre fitters and swapped to the winters I had left over from my old car. Cue an increase in temp up here in Leeds.

Really wouldn't have bothered for winter tyres this year if I'd not got these 6-7mm tread ones already here. Think I'll wear them out and stop with normals next year.

All that flash bodykit and a 2 litre diesel engine under the bonnet :(

We get it. You don't like it. You've said it twice now.

Yes I would have preferred the V6 diesel or the 252PS petrol but they simply do not exist with this level of spec, let alone for the price I wanted to pay. It's a refined engine and a far cry from the B8/B8.5 era.

As lovely as it is, don't try and delude yourself that it's massively different in engine refinement over the b8/8.5.

The interior quality is about the same (build quality, not looks or layout), the drive feels slightly less detached (but still not exactly a "drivers" car), and the infotainment is (iPad aside) a massive step up.
