The good news, wheels, tyres and brakes all done!
The bad news - What a complete and utter faff
The front discs are held on with 2 retaining bolts (not just the usual screw), on both sides both bolts where completely chewed and rounded, but did try and impact driver (manual one with a lump hammer) but couldn't shift them.. it took 5 hours in total to figure out how to fix each one.. One needed a slot cutting and I could use the impact driver to then get it out, one needed drilling partly out and an easy-out to get it out, one needed drilling almost completely out and then folded in to remove, and the last one, well, some numpty had used some adhesive (liquid metal?) to hold it in, so I had to drill it out completely and retap a new thread..
Other than that, the 17mm caliper bolts don't seem to be 17mm, but a 5/8" Socket fitted perfectly so those came off a treat, and everything else was straight forward and enjoyable, I cleaned everything up, copper greased or moly greased everything that needed it..
The galvanised finish on the discs was a bit off putting, but the instructions say it'll be removed in normal use, which it has, and I've done a more thorough bedding in process which seems to have worked nicely..
The wheels are OK, although I struggled to get the old rears off, lots of swearing, some wood and a hammer seemed to work a treat, so I cleaned up the hub centre and greased that for easier removal next time:
From the side, the wheels don't look too dis-similar, but the old wheels come out a bit proud of the rim before going into the centre so look odd off-angle
Old:
New:
And hopefully the galvanised finish will keep the discs looking a bit better for longer, the old ones looked very crusty:
On the advice above, I haven't fitted the chromed dust caps, If I do, it will be with plenty of moly grease on them to stop them corroding on, as I've that issue on the Mrs car and had to cut one off with a dremmel before!
