What have you done to your car today?

Google suggests not. 6.4 litre capacity on a clean engine, and you typically need about 5.8 litres.
Thanks, just this moment checked talk ford and said about 5.5L. Annoying that I can buy some for £18 but it's 5L only. Already have some in the garage is it ok to mix oils even though they are same 5w30?

I don't know what the official word on the matter is, but I don't see an issue with it really... Even mixing different grades of oils shouldn't be a massive issue in theory... Mix some 0W20 with some 5W30 and it should end up somewhere in-between for example...

Mix some fully synthetic with some semi synthetic and it becomes semi synthetic with a higher percentage of synthetic. :p

Found out the rattling I was hearing was due to my exhaust tailpipe rattling against the bumper under acceleration, got to get the back end up this weekend and try and move it across!

Depends what it is you have in the garage (whether it is an approved oil) and how old it is etc.

If you have bought 5 litres of Shell 5w30 and you have some 6 month old Castrol Magnatec/Edge 5w30 in the garage to top up 500ml - it won't make any difference.

If you have some Tesco oil 5w30 part synth from 5 years ago which had been opened and has cobwebs all over it - it's probably best to just by 2 x 5 litres of the 5w30 oil and keep the rest for topups or next years old change.

I have a rattling noise which was bothering me in the MX5, I found out that the baffle in the mid-box has come loose. So at some point the mid-box will get cut out and replaced with a bit of pipe. :p

Good way to solve two issues at once. Rattling noise, and its too muted.

Which I'd imagine would get boring after about 17 minutes.

It's only a few months old, is branded 5w30. So sure I can use that along with the other stuff I'm going to buy.

Thanks for advice all

Its a cheap nasty fix, and the mid-box is tiny. It should make it a little less muted but it won't be loud by any stretch of the imagination. There is still a cat and a massive back-box to get through. :)

Did you follow the correct procedure for all of the flushing/refilling and such of the Powershift box?

I don't think I'm brave enough / have enough arsed to do it myself!

Yup - a lengthy process but not too involved - much easier when you have access to a lift.

I've always worked on cars (built a Westfield inc rebuilding the engine), I'm capable of most stuff and I have a friendly local garage that stamps the service book for me :) (I have to provide photos/recpts to evidence the work I have done).

Just did the mod to remove the orange reflectors from my MX5 indicators. Subtle difference but it does look better for 20 minutes time and no cost. I also have some clear side repeaters to fit when my chrome indicator bulbs turn up.
