Replaced my split intercooler hose earlier with a nice new silicone one. Haven't driven the car yet but I'm sure all is good.
Pre-remap I was getting fuel economy of around 40-42mpg and after remap it dropped to about 35-36mpg over 200 miles which wasn't good. How much is a 1.5 inch split in one of the turbo hoses likely to actually affect fuel economy? I'm guessing it would have quite a negative effect since the turbo would be having to work harder to maintain boost (or not maintain it, in the case of my P0299 fault code before I bodged then changed the hose) but I'll have to wait until Monday to do a longer drive to really put it to the test.
They claim improved economy after a remap and while I wasn't expecting it to go up by any noticeable amount, I wasn't expecting it to drop substantially even with grandad driving on 200 miles of motorway driving. If I was nailing it around everywhere then sure but I was genuinely driving like an old man.
Also checked the battery out since it was mysteriously drained for seemingly no reason on Wednesday. Hadn't driven the car for 4 and a half days and the thing was totally dead, as in so dead that the stereo couldn't even manage to display the date and time. I fully charged the battery overnight Thursday until it was done on Friday morning and the car hasn't been driven since but with a multimeter is still showing 12.75v so that seems good so far. I just can't figure out what flattened the battery in 4.5 days.
All I can think of is that I accidentally opened the boot (has happened before) which kept the interior light or maybe just the boot light on and so stopped the car auto locking and going into power save mode. The only reason I think that is because I'm fairly confident that my folding wing mirrors didn't unfold on that day, ie. they were already unfolded, which would make sense because if the stereo couldn't even manage to display date/time there's no way the electric mirrors would be able to unfold.
