What is it that makes people hate Apple so much?

I've actually had long arguments with people who say that for any kind of graphic design, you HAVE to use a Mac. I don't believe this to be the case.

Their argument is basically based around the fact that Windows doesn't handle massive image files as easily or smoothly and that it's very unreliable.

Have these people actually tried doing so in Windows? I've got images that are multiple GBs have had no issues there. I wouldn't be surprised if "large" to them was 50MB.

I wonder how they would respond to you telling them that 3DS Max isn't available for OSX? Probably be along the lines of "It' crap anyway".

Bought my first iPhone and fell in love with it. Then bought a cheap refurb MacBook and fell in love with OSX.

Apple users also tend to misuse the word 'love' a lot. I can understand appreciating quality of design, build, materials, even wanting to try something different for the learning experience.

But to actually 'fall in love' with a phone. :p:confused::o

I think it's just a general term. If anyone actually loves their iPhone for example, I'd be very worried about them :p

And you know what people tend to do with things they've fallen in love with, as well. :p

I wish people would stop banding the 'fashion' argument around.

Just like fashion, Apple products have become so popular and mainstream that I don't think they can be considered 'cool' anymore.

Ten years ago, if you pulled out your PowerBook in a coffee shop, you would have looked different (Think Different) and the Apple design elements would likely have attracted a few looks.

Go in a coffee shop these days and everybody will be sat there on their MacBook (Think The Same?). I fail to see how that can be considered 'cool'..

Sames goes for iPhones.
I went to the Rugby recently, at half-time, my Dad, Mum, Brother and his Girlfriend pulled out their iPhones. I was embarrassed to pull mine out because it just looked silly.

Apple isn't 'cool' anymore.
Obviously there are people who think it is and in a lot of ways, their brand has always been an expression of excusably being geeky.

Nexus, I think you have mistaken fashionable as cool. Fashionable means exactly what you've just described above. Fashionable isn't cool, it's incredibly lame. The whole "must have * to complete look", it's like in school when people get picked on for "not having the right brand shoes". The brands people consider cool are the ones everyone has already, fashion is often sheep cultrue.

I remember in the last years of my school time a massive increase of people wearing "Prada" shoes and the amount of times I rolled my eyes every time I saw a "Prada" lable flash by, I'm pretty sure most of them were fake as well, just so they "fit in".

You were embarrassed to get your phone out?!

Don't be. If anyone judges you based on what phone you have, they're stupid.

I don't think I've mistaken anything thank you very much.

I was just telling it how it is.

I believe it's just simply down to the success that they have had, and the expensiveness of their products.

Some people have become so fixed and so used to companies like Microsoft they do not want to change. Apple's profits are huge and their market share seems to always be increasing, so this does show that more and more people are 'converting'.

The other thing I think its down to is definitely the cost. People see the cost of an iPhone for example and think thats ridiculous, its not worth it. But when comparing it to other phones on the market, thats why it is priced the way it is.

Sorry, I think you've mistaken me.

It wasn't the thought of people judging me.
I just thought it was silly that everyone, my family and people around us are all pulling out their iPhones. It was more a reflection on society!

I never got my iMac or iPhone to look cool thats for sure :p

They make Brilliant phones and devices. I think the nature of "some" people thinking themselves so much better than others with said devices is the annoying factor.*

* Can be said with most brands

though he is a banker/******, I do agree with Risty (only partially). I see no point whatsoever in a macbook as they are ridiculously overpriced for what they are.

Why would you buy a mac over a pc?

I admit, i am a little bit ignorant about macs so please don't flame me :p

what makes my blood boil .... You buy the device expecting to own it : Wrong, especially with Apple. Personally as soon as I got my iPhone I jailbroke it, thats just it, I felt like I was in a jail.

The way the market is going is you pay money to lease the technology... becoming quite irritating, its my hardware damn it, I will do with it whatever I please!! and when I have a license for software 'not that I have a single one' I will decompile the hell out of it!

And you were forced to buy an iPhone? Why didn't you buy an Android handset?
