What "man jobs" have you done today?

On the theme of grass I took the head off my lawnmower as it was playing up. Loads of carbon build up so gave it a good clean and ordered some new parts to give it a good service; new carb, air filter, spark plug, oil and gasket kit as the head and exhaust have been off.

Yesterday - painted living room. Ceiling+window cove+coving+door frames+skirting brilliant matt white, sill + doors brilliant gloss white, refreshed 3 walls 1 coat of Craig & Rose 1829 chalk emulsion very pale off white-coffee colour, 1 back wall 1 coat C&R 1829 chalk emulsion Osborne purple colour. Painted the radiator with ronseal matt brilliant white.

Today 0800 saw second coats for the walls except one that needed a second bit of filler. Should be ready at 1200 for third coat plus sanding+resoaping to remove any dust that wall will then have a couple of coats over this afternoon/eve. Still have some small brush tidy up of the lines and second coats for sill and radiator but the mrs is ill this morning so have TLC duties too - due to the fumes the gloss and radiator paints give off it's unlikely to get done today.

Today will also see the prep for the next room. Sanding down the rebuild of the massive plaster crack - I raked out and rebuilt with pva+bonding plaster then finishing plaster over the top previously.

Oh.. and had to try three shops to get a plunger to unblock the loo this morning after the mrs blocked up..

Finally got there..

This time last year I weed killered all the lawn because it was moss and weed with bit of grass in between - since then I have grubbed the grass roots out - dug it over twice and removed as many chaffer grubs I could find - Then raked and raked then put shuttering round edge then dragged boards across to get it really level - then a few weeks ago stringed it out in one meter squares and then today finally seeded and covered it with 5 bags of compost or something wife said use. - I really am getting to old for this game - talk about cream crackered :(

Just need a bit of rain now and again followed with some warm days but not as hot as it's been.

Being a bungalow this is quite an easy job -- Been up on the steps and sprayed roof with weak solution of Roof Moss killer - I did it properly a few years ago so my concrete tiles are clean and Moss free but they need a top up every year -

Is roof Moss a big deal? I could do similar but figure it isn't much of a problem? (other than when it falls on my nice clean garden!

Roof moss was a problem for me as it had blocked all three soakaways - After digging new ones and putting in traps at bottom of down pipe I decided it was worth the aggro - I spent nearly three months on roof with a paint scraper and wire brush - (only 30 min at a time - does your knees and legs in) - Mine now looks better than a neighbour who had his power washed and painted - I have set up a reminder on PC for me to clean traps out every two months and it's now not so much Moss as sand we get in the air round here -- very sandy soil -

Just do it. The place we bought 2 years ago the previous owner hadn't done it (garage roof, 6mx5m) so it now needs reroofing as the moss/lichen has damaged the felt and its leaking all over. Have treated it and am mid-process patching it up for this year.

Its very easy to do and doesnt take long, use a pump up garden sprayer and follow the instructions. do it once per year and takes the worry away. Ideally you should get up and inspect flat roofs once a year anyway, so whilst up there give it a spray!

Lawn mower fixed, quite enjoyed it as I’ve not got my hands dirty for a while.

Ordered some grass seed and feed to sort out some dodgy patches due to recent weather. So many new builds put almost zero effort in to gardens. They either flood, are bone dry or have way too much concrete at the edges which kills the grass when it gets hot.

Came back from Finland to find the hot water tap barely opening in the bathroom.

5 minutes of taking it apart, cleaning it up and applying copious amounts of lovely WD40 got me more brownie points with the GF than it really deserved.

Today I've chased out a wall so I can fit a double socket above where a new kitchen unit will be, wired up new socket and fit it, removed existing radiator, fit new radiator of slightly smaller size and just in the process of painting the kitchen ceiling in preparation for new kitchen being fitted at the weekend.

After today I then need to remove the tiles from the kitchen floor. I'm going to ache.

Been under the floor to join some cables for my kitchen cabinet led strip lighting.
A slight miscommunication with my sparky meant he ran the cables in a really strange way that didn't go anywhere helpful or make much sense.

Really love the shrubs what a lovely garden :)

Today sanded 2 rooms, washed two rooms down with sugar soap, 2x3 basecoated walls, 1 ceiling, one feature wall 1st coat, 2 other walls 1st coat. Beer time I think as i’m shattered!

The Mrs.. managed to set fire to a pan the kitchen ceiling and coving and walls are now black sooted.. so I guess that needs a repaint (wasn’t on the list).

Tomorrow sees 7 coats of paint on various walls and a white + gloss on the inside of the windows.. and new sealant so relatively easy.
