What Restaurant did you eat at last night?

You're probably right. It's deceiving seeing lots of small portions of food.

And bear in mind a lot of the dishes will be very rich so smaller portions tend to work well. I usually find you feel hungry till about 2/3rds of the way through a tasting menu then by the end I can barely move. Part of the challenge for restaurants is getting the pacing/portions right so you actually want to keep eating (in my experience anyway).

I forgot that on Tuesday I went to Big Easy in Covent Garden on my way back from Bristol. Had a "Taste-O-Rama" with pit smoked BBQ chicken, Carolina pulled pork and St Louis Pork Ribs.. Absolutely delicious and I struggled to walk out from there :D

On Saturday I went for a lovely meal at Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental. Everything was so good you couldn't fault it, the only downside really being it's a la carte only, i.e. no tasting menu so there were some things I would have loved to have tried but didn't get the chance. It doesn't quite top Restaurant Gordon Ramsay (Royal Hospital Road) in my opinion, but I did prefer it to The Fat Duck which was completely over the top.

We were talking just last night about going back to Dinner. The meat fruit and tipsy cake are calling!

The tipsy cake was as you say awesome. My wife had the meat fruit and I had a taste of it, it was probably the best pate/parfait I've ever tasted. I had Salamagundy for my starter, it was great but not as good as the meat fruit.

Hoppers in Soho.

Pretty damn awesome. We had
- Egg Hopper* (of course)
- Bone Marrow Varuval* (hnnngg this was good)
- Devilled Shrimps*
- Mutton Rolls*
- Lamb Kari
- Paneer Chukka
- Pol Roti

*Pictured. And we said we weren't hungry as it was early (pre-theatre) :p

Damn good food. Now I know you can leave your number and 'queue' from the pub, I'll certainly be back. Nice staff too. Excuse the terrible pics, we were rushing.

Not last night but ate at St John Bread & Wine for the first time in many years last Saturday. It might well be one of my favourite restaurants, the menu is consistently excellent, the food is great and it's a nice, comfortable setting. The kid liver with green sauce was delicious although it's always hard to see past the classics (whole crab with mayonnaise, bone marrow on toast with parsley salad). Had a couple of very reasonable glasses of house red (Languedoc) alongside. If you haven't been, I'd really recommend it.

Had some great seafood out there. Inc a few of the dead cheap locals places

Ho Chi Min City... where do I sign? We love seafood  Interestingly, the missus might have a chance of a secondment in KL with travel around SE Asia. If she takes it, I'll be asking for some pointers, from street food to fine dines :)

Off to Kokkeriet in Copenhagen next Friday. Looking at the current menu i can't wait

https://kokkeriet.dk/en/menu/#main

Got to the day and seems my wife has caught a bug going round and woke up yesterday with it coming out both ends.

Put a stop on going to Kokkeriet. Luckily I hadn’t given any card details so they backed down after initially trying to charge a £100pp cancelation fee.
