What Virtual Reality games are you playing?

Right, got a pretty special loadout for Anakim I reckon. 2 sets of Cataclysm and one set of cupids. That's 90 explosive arrows. Just going to fire them into anakim as fast as I ****** can. Just got to get through the last stage safely. Going to check the shop to see what's available, and if I can use some of those arrows in staying safe, I will do.

Save the cupid arrows for the next level if you can. You'll need them :D (Tip: Look UP, frequently).

Anakim is dead and all I'm doing at the moment is shooting cupid arrows from miles away :D, killing everything without it even knowing about me for the most part. Not bothering to hold onto arrows to conserve them either. Just going to shoot all the specials in an attempt to survive for as long as possible.

I've started Walking Dead Saints & Sinners. In some respects really good, but it has a lot of dark areas and the Quest 2 does not handle that sort of lighting well (lots of flat grey, no real black). Almost makes me want to fire up the CV1 again. Mmmm... inky black OLED....

star trek bridge crew with my mates on Monday nights
also playing Asgard Wrath again as im now wireless !

I keep meaning to try Asgard's Wrath on Airlink. Having to clear over 200gb of space though is tricky! Also I have finished the game. I enjoyed it but wasn't keen on the ending.

I keep playing From Other Suns, it's great to be able to play it again after being unable to play propery since I stopped using my Rift. Also due to the bump in resolution I'm noticing a lot more of the environmental details. It's not a particually amazing game graphically, but I'm noticing a lot more of some of the cooler details now.

Also got back into In Death Unchained and amazed myself about how quick and accurate I am nailing those headshots. :D

I had to turn up the brightness to be able to actually see anything in the dull parts. Still enjoying the game tho, there's nothing quite like holdings zombie head in one hand while frantically stabbing it's brains out.

Started Karnage Chronicles last night - to me it's the most well put together game in terms of VR graphics that I've seen (in my very limited experience). Gameplay is fun and once I get some COOP in on the weekend it's going to be awesome I think.

My only gripe is that they seem to have been quite lazy with the VR hand control, there are very few items you can pick up (instead you just touch them and they shoot in to your inventory) and then when you can pick something up, it isn't natural at all, it just kind of sticks to your hand weirdly. Also I don't like the inventory system, it's a million times better on TWD, why can't I reach over my shoulder for my bow? Why can't I sheave(?) my sword by placing it on my hip?

Anyway, other than those slightly immersion breaking parts, it does seem cool and having a long range bow fight dodging arrows is fun :)

Got Star Wars Pinball VR last night. Pinball games just work so well in VR.
Bit of a downgrade in visuals from Pinball FX2 VR unfortunately but upping the pixel density to 1.5 helped with the sharpness a bit.

Good fun so far and nice to be able to get the collectables to fill your virtual room. And, hey, it's Star Wars :)

Yes it's a great game, but they nerfed the graphics on PC to match Quest 2. It's nowhere near as sharp as Pinball FX2, even though that's a much older game.
Here's hoping they patch this to look better on PC.

Also no native controller support for Vive or Index controllers is pretty bad for a modern release. They have this for Oculus Touch controllers on Quest, so not sure why they didn't do it for SteamVR.

Surely it's not that hard to just use lower resolution graphics for the quest 2 version, without nerfing a pc version? I'm not a programming, but surely it's not that hard?

That's true, but it depends if they have higher resolution assets available. Normal practice in game development is to create assets at highest quality then downsample and optimise for each platform, but in this case the PC version seems to be the same as the Quest version. Though the Quest version is apparently rendering at quite a low resolution anyway, lower than PC. (That's a separate issue from asset resolution, which seems to be the problem on PC).

It's funny because I'm used to games maxing out my 3090 in VR, with FPS VR often showing full GPU utilization, and frametimes that only just fit in the refresh rate, but because the SW Pinball game is a Quest conversion my card is barely ticking over. I'm just not used to seeing the frame-time graph that low. :D

Was thinking about picking this up as I have universal studios and walking dead version. I have the index though - I presume you can use a game pad to play?

I have the Steam version and am using a Rift CV1. The touch controllers work fine. Just wish I didn't have to use teleport to move around the room.

Strange, as I can use smooth movement (but no smooth turn). Possibly because I'm using an xbox controller.

I'll have to try this using Airlink

Right, got through to the abyss in In Death unchained. Got a full set of cupids, a full set of tempest and I think a full set of needles. No idea what to expect though?

I've still not killed the boss in the Abyss. For the most part it's like a hybrid of the first two levels. Cupids and tempests are very useful there.
