What watch do you wear?

If you compensate like that, it is safe to say that in real life, they are all dark after 8 hours.

Of course, except the tritium since they won't change a single iota until their half-life comes to an end 15~ years down the line.

The rest will still be visible to dark adjusted eyes so they are essentially doing what they are supposed to do. How bright you want them to be depends on preference.

How are you finding the Halios?

I am ordering the Delfin next week and may also buy a Muhle Glashutte 29er Big.

Not the tritium gas light source (TGLS), luminous pigments have to be 'charged' (UV is quickest) and the brightness weakens after few hours. Some can be very good and just about visible at 8 hours, some not. Depending on how much is applied and the type. The TGLS stays the same regardless, I find T25 is about right. The T100 tubes look intense if your eyes are fully dark adapted, bright enough to cast light on the surroundings in a dark room.

Other than the weaker bezel lume on zero markers on mine (new bezel is in transit) No problems to note! The domed glass and deep gloss of bezel and dial being the stand-out features.

Compared to the Longines both are blue but they are vastly different in shade. The Halios is a deep yet lighter shade and doesn't have that metalic sheen to it of the Longines, if you look up close the dial has a reflective gloss that is almost exactly like the ceramic bezel and reflects things in a particular way unlike other watches. Jason said the domed glass is quite thick so creates an optical illusion from certain angles. Whatever they did to make it like that looks great. Sadly they have ended the run of the blue, I think I have the (or one of) last one (number 85!) and a new white model is coming soon.

I would have waited for the Delfin but it's too large for my taste, really the only drawback for me! Someone on reddit has offered to buy my Tropik as they wanted a blue and has said if I ever do sell it they'd be interested. I think I'd only sell if if a 41mm Delfin comes out :p

The stainless steel bracelet is available in 3-4 weeks so will update once that is installed

A lot of watch for the money and all of the Halios range have a unique look which is nice to see.

Just go this

still not sorted a new winder, this one looking favourite but I know nothing of the brand

Just to say, I had a winder with vertical placement like that and there were issues with heavy watches sagging depending on the cushion fit, which also lead to them making faint "clicking" sounds when winding as they moved on the metal bracelets. Inserting them in the winders is also a little awkward in my opinion
If it was me I'd make sure to see one in the flesh before buying one for that money.

I've changed to an angled one now and it's much nicer. YMMV of course.

I think I did mention it before, and my thoughts on watch winders, so I wont bore you Rotty,

but if your decision is made on one, may I ask where you are going to put this?

bedroom, living room? its just not very secure, and the last thing you want is a friends random friend coming over, then mentioning in a pub, about your collection. it does have a display front after all.

I know you can get small safes with winders built in, but they are pricey, the alternative is to get a nice sized safe, and measure the space and get some block winders to fit, even going as far as making a nice wooden front inside the safe to give it that pro look.

it will be in my office room where no one ever goes, they are all insured so not too worried

I have seen the safes with winders and as you say they are pricey

Good point Soundood.

A small point here - do the people with 8-12 'premium' watches have them all named on house insurance or a separate specialist insurance? I know my house premiums bumped a fair bit for the two I have.

im sure you have it covered but i know on my house insurance they are only insure if i am wearing or if they are in the safe, hence i dont have a winder

I have a high end policy which costs me about £90 a month that covers them anywhere, even left in hotel room and not in safe for example

It would be cheaper if I had a sfae but there were too many restrictions re the safe
