What's your car's annoying foibles?

MR2 Turbo:
No rain channels on the roof - drivers seat and my butt got soaked if I opened the window when it had been raining.

Saab 9-3:
Inertia reel seatbelts are really sensitive and trap me for any reason.
No 'one shot' up on the windows.

People complaining about no one touch up- isn't that done from a safety point of view?

I doubt it - my old '98 Vectra had 1-touch up windows, with an override sensor so that if they were stopped before they closed, they opened again about an inch.

An annoying creeking sound when acclerating more than gently (if thats possible), always had it since I took ownership of the car.

Can't be, becuase my 5 Series has one touch up and down on all the Windows, and also remote from the keyfob.

Echo for my Stilo (including the remote control windows & sunroof)

The safety bit is they stop and go back down if you block them with your hand, finger etc.

My MR2's window will keep going till it takes your arm off. :D

Steering pump moans when cold, parcel shelf knackered, gear stick vibrates annoyingly at about 3K rpm, exhaust whistles slightly, gets rubbish MPG for what it is, aerial is jammed up, has the stopping power of an oiled and greased John Prescott sliding down a giant slippery slide covered with lard, no leccy windows and probably loads more thing I can't be bothered to think of.

This will all change very soon though...

Random creaks that surface every so often can be annoying. Recently, an annoying rattle has developed somewhere in the dashboard on the passenger side. It's quiet and intermittent enough for it to be tolerated for a while, but loud enough to be noticeable even with the stereo on. I'll take it into the dealer once there's a quiet period at work, though sadly BMW say the warranty doesn't cover rattles :/

Also, in start-stop slow moving traffic when you're stuck in first gear, the ride can be a bit jerky.

Main bearing spun, oil pump input drive rounded, pistons blue with heat, conrods all bent and crank destroyed. :D

Oh also my steering wheel isn't in the centre, need to sort that too.

Oh the joys of classic motoring ;).

Errmm...

  • Pedals are slightly offset to the right, made my leg ache at first.
  • I can't park it properly, reversing into a bay I always endup at an angle, and if it wasn't for the parking sensors i'd have no idea how close things were behind me.
  • The automatic boot opening means it's a PITA to close it again, you have to keep your hand on it until it's completely shut or it just springs open again.
  • The silver paint hides dirt too well, it looks clean but I keep getting a dirty hand.
  • Couple of biggish stonechips have appeared over the past couple of weeks and I managed to kerb both perfect front alloys in the first week of having it :( Although I suspect they had been re-conditioned, I can't believe anyone kept them perfect for 30k miles.

Mick.

Comedic fuel consumption (less than 30mpg average at absolute best) unless I absolutely granddad it about (1500rpm changes etc).

Annoying glovebox rattle under braking (cure for this is to wedge something behind it but it keeps falling out :().

Permanent 12v feed to the head unit is not permanent, so I keep losing all my presets.

My alarm goes off constantly for no reason whatsoever.

Far too loud for comfortable cruising at sensible motorway speeds and an absolute nightmare at faster motorway speeds over a protracted length of time. Seemingly growing deaf to it now but passengers consistently comment.

e39, Brake pedal creaks so loud when pressed that people look when next to me at traffic lights.

Rattles when going over uneven roads, loud enough for people to look at me when i drive past.

This car is making me paranoid.

Oh and loads of dead pixels on the dash.

Remember it well. Daren't use the windscreen washers if the window was wound down...

Capri 2.8i-

1-Passenger side electric window sometimes sticks closed if car has not been used for a couple of weeks.

2-Lock on boot lid is a bit dodgy, sometimes have to waggle the key around.

Rover 220D-

1-The steering wheel is too low, gives me shoulder ache on long drives.

2-The car shakes on the motorway above 65 yet the balance & tracking are fine.

3-It smells damp inside after i got it flooded.

4-Have to dump the clutch at 3500RPM to get out of junctions at anything more than a snails pace due to horrendous turbo lag.

5-Absolutely no grip in the wet.

6-It's actually harder to park than a 16+ foot long Volvo 940 estate for some reason.

lol - forgot about that one too. I used to squidgy the t-bar if it had been raining, and put the window up if I was going to do a left turn. The number of times I turned up for work with a wet patch on my arse was embarrassing :o
