When is OcUK getting 2500K in stock?

Only 4 2500k's were showing in stock a minute ago but its gone to 10+ now. Nearly had a heart attack as ive been waiting for one of these and wasnt expecting an early launch.

Price is a little higher than i would have hoped though :/

Anybody here bought one yet?

Yeah not sure what happened there, stock jumped up!

Peer pressure selling :D:p

At that price i'm certainly not buying one. Intel can jog on.

I believe OcUK are charging a premium for early availability. Other retailers who can only currently offer pre-order are charging much lower prices.

I may be wrong however.

The motherboard pricing is disappointment TBH. With so much functionality on the CPU now,the motherboards should be relatively cheap. It seems that with the decline of socket 775 the days of cheap Intel motherboards will be long gone.

I was just thinking this, from an overclocking point of view, if you're just overclocking with the multiplier, is the motherboard going to make that much difference?

Pfff! No thanks not at them prices.

Looks like I will be holding on to my aging E6300 for a bit longer until the prices of the 2500K die down.

I paid £ 140 ex VAT for my Q6600 when they had been out for about 6 months... your talking £ 158.32 ex VAT for the i5-2500k and its brand new no comparison when it comes to performance.

Personally I do not see the prices dropping much for at least 6 months and only then the CPU might go down £ 20 and the board likewise...

so by waiting 6 months you are saving £ 40... you are also 6 months closer to the platform being replaced by something new

buy now while its **** hot

The "cheap" socket 1155 motherboards based on the H67 cannot be used for overclocking AFAIK. The P67 based motherboards can be used for overclocking but cannot use the IGP. The Z68 based motherboards can use the IGP and can be used for overclocking. The functions of the H67 and Z68 could be covered by one chipset.

I even did a quick look around to find the cheapest socket 1155 motherboard available in the UK and it was the Asrock H67M for around £70. It did have SATA3.0 and USB3.0 but is mATX and had two RAM slots. The four RAM slot version is around £80. The motherboards also have no overclocking options as you need to get a Z68 based motherboard to be able to do this.

TBH,it all sounds like a cynical exercise from Intel in making as much money as possible from their motherboards.

Hi there

Seems this is a colossul mess up, the NDA still stands, its a communication error and as such Intel have requested we hide all related Sandybridge products from the site until the 9th.
