When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

Don't want to high jack but will my 750W PSU be sufficient for an overclocked 12900K and a 3070Ti?

A friend said i'd be pushing my luck with anything higher than a 3070Ti on a 750W PSU due to power spikes?
Nvidia recommend a 750w psu for the 3070ti so you should be ok with a branded 750w

TPU had sold over 400W (card only) for some AIB ones:
Somewhat less for what must be the FE version.
Unsure what the max spikes of 12900K are, but if they are 250W then things do look tight.

Edit: if Nvidia only recommended 750W you might be fine. Although wasn't the chronology September 2021 for the 3070Ti and October 2021 for the 12900K? Before that it had been years since a top CPU was that power hungry.

So would I be better off with a 3070? Is that a fair bit less? I've downloaded HW Monitor, will do a stream and see what the 12900K's maximum is.
Check this out, it lists as 550W recommended and 220W draw. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-3070.c3674
That's for the basic, so look for the model you are interested in.

Peak power consumption for your 12900K is 241W according to google.

edit: doh, just saw komp already linked you a very useful chart.

Every PSU will react differently. My previous Seasonic 650W PSU couldn’t handle my undervolted 5800X and undervolted 3080 FE. The odd power spike caused random PC restarts.

If you really want a 3070ti then snag a FE version while they are in stock. Otherwise a 3070 does use less power and will save on the electricity bill. The AMD 6700 is quite a bit cheaper but obviously doesn't perform as well, the 6800 is slightly cheaper but isn't as good in ray tracing. https://youtu.be/h3yJEy--Uyc?t=668

prices are still quite high for now, once they confirm release date and price for the 4000 series 3000 series could be used a coffee matt or a Frisbee.

Plus why would anyone pay £400 for old spec thats probably mined to death when you can get brand new 4000 series for the same price and double performance.

Really hoping things do come down significantly once 4000 is announced. Holding out trying to buy a decent, sub £200 gpu for my daughters Christmas present. That amount still doesn’t get you far right now!

from what i understand Nvidia have a threshold for how low the GPU's will go, 3070s wont go lower that £300 and the 3080ti would sit around the £400 - £450 mark. I personally would not buy a GPU now counter to what jay2cent said. This is actually the worse time as your basically buying old tech with newer tech out in a couple of months which should push down the 3000's series card more.

we could see really good deals on the 3080ti's if it's on par with the 4070, especially if they have overstock of ampere cards.

HP for that or it's just hearsay.

There's more than enough BS floating around without adding to it.

Whether it's hearsay or not, no way will Nvidia drop 3070 or 3080 series card below £300, they want to get rid of their surplus stock for Ampere cards. Unfortunately we will never see high end GPU's for less than £300 due to bots and scalpers that drive up price. SO even when the 4000 series drop the MSRP price will be higher which will mean prices of the 3070ti & 3080ti being still high until 2023 at least. but ill eat my hat if im wrong :D

if the 3080ti drops to £400 ill buy one brand new just waiting for black friday deals ;)
