Lol calm down guys ;)

My main point was telling the chap to buy the console that has the better exclusives (for him).

Clearly I have, it might be a bit better than the current controller but it's still based on the same bad ergonomics, it needs a compete redesign.

what is wrong with it ??

i keep hearing how the playstation's pads have all been bad but seriously what is the issue, as all anyone says is "it hurts my hands" which is due to people gripping it to tightly rather than the pad being bad.

No. It's because it's too small. The thumb sticks are in the wrong place. The thumb sticks are convex. The triggers are too small and curve inwards instead of outwards. The thumbsticks are too loose. Large deadzones. And the fact you have to have contortionist hands to be able to use multiple triggers at once. Oh at it feels too light and flimsy. :p

The PS4 pad fixes a lot of these issues that the DS3 had. But the sticks are still in a stupid place ;)

The main complaint with the previous DS controllers has been that the grips were too small which meant they didn't fit in your hand quite so nicely. They've changed that, which means your hands won't be quite so far 'up' on the controller, which means it will be more comfortable.

All the hands-on reports have said it's much improved.

Stick placement probably won't be an issue now that the grips are bigger.

hahaha, you must have HUUUUUUUGE hands, always found the ps3 pad fine for size and im not exactly small (6'3) as for the triggers iv never found them all that bad, especially when you remap the buttons :p the thumbsticks il give you they have a bit of a deadzone but never really played any fps's on it other than dust and tbh if your playing fps's get a mouse and keyboard :D

A symettrical pad always made more sense to me than the Xbox one

ALL of those issues are apparently addressed by the new pad, except the thumb stick position, because that isn't an issue :p

I don't think it's changed enough for me to warrant buying a PS4 but I will wait for it to come out so I can test for myself. It looks so damn ugly the new one, like something Mad Catz would design :p

I love the position of the analogue sticks on the 360 pad, so comfy to use.

not sure if serious, so the triggers are not all that bad if you remap the buttons to not use them, the sticks are fantastic but your better off with mostly unsupported keyboard and mouse, so in effect you actually agree with the points he made.

Just what I thought when I read that post :)

ps3ud0

That's a self defeatist argument. The PS3 controller hurts my hands (and that's not the only problem I have with it) - but the 360 doesn't. So why would I grip the PS3 controller tighter than the 360, unless it was poorly designed; or if I grip them with the same strength, then why doesn't the 360 hurt my hands too?

I've never liked the PS controllers ever since the PS1, it just puts me off playing any games on the console. I always buy multi-platforms on the 360 - and the controller is the reason.

It's ridiculous. It doesn't hurt my hands because I grip it tightly. It hurts because of how I have to turn the wrist to move my thumb down.

I actually hold it very loose, my biggest issue is having my thumbs bang together all the time, thankfully they're wider apart now so that's at least one non-issue.

I'll be honest, I've always said I havent had an issue with DS3. ALWAYS. But I never use it for FPS games, Always Hack and Slash, or stealth or Resident evils, etc. I dont like FPS games, so never played them in large sittings.

I played Killzone 3 the other day, from beginning to end in one sitting. So a good session. I did start to get hand cramp, down at the meaty part of the thumb\palm.

First time I've experienced it!!

So I think it depends on what you play, aswell as how you hold the pad.

(On a sidenote, Killzone 3 is sexy as ****)

i've used both controllers for long gaming sessions, the ds3 triggers are crap and the 360 pad makes my hands sweat. But i can use either one just fine otherwise

2 main issues IMO both have been addressed, first DS4 grips are bigger than DS3 and 2nd one finally we have proper triggers. Placement of sticks never bothered me.

Thing is, the wider grip will allow for a better hand positioning, So yes, a lot of people dislike the position of the Analogue sticks.. But till you hold the pad, you wont know if it causes the same issues as before.

Just hold out your hands, position yourself for a narrow DS3 grip, and then widen your fingers, you feel the palm muscles\tendons\whatever changing?

It's not a given that it will solve all issues, but till you've held the pad and tried it, you can't say its bad ergonomics.

Have you somehow missed all the comments from people saying the DS4 is MILES better than the DS3. Somebody from Dice said it's the best controller he's used and even better than the current 360 pad.
