Thing is though MS could do the xbox cheaper if they weren't forcing people to buy Kinect. Yes i know we dont have to use it but for example when i buy an xbox one it will be disconnected and never used so them forcing me to buy it is stupid.

If kinect wasn't included i honestly think they could sell it at same price as PS4.

I choose PS4 a) Sony has better exclusives over all imo b) ive always preferd the brand c) Killzone Shadow Fall / Infamous Second Son d)

Now i will get an xbox one but not until its cheaper and halo 5 is out until then it holds no interest to me
The scary thing is if that Reddit verified MS developer is correct the XO would be nearly half the price without Kinect .
The majority of the masses care only about the console, except that the success of the Kinect carries much more weight to us. The sensor costs almost as much as the console to make.
Just look where its left the Wii U by charging a substantial price for a piece of technology thats already looking like its underused by developers...

If I can get a xone without the kinect, I may buy it just for the exclusive games. But tbh with gta coming on current gen im thinking I'll wait 3-6 months then purchase.

Yup i can believe it, Which maybe give it a year and i can see them doing another SKU were its not included.

Unless they announce one at GamesCon to try get one over on Sony but i doubt it cause that would mean there PR have a clue what there doing.

People are knocking Xbox now because of Kinect but I would bet that the tables will turn by the second half of next gen when developers are making good use of Kinect and PS4 can't offer the same due do their fragmented ps eye userbase.

The core games like COD or FIFA will never need Kinect. When in these games would you ever need or want to move your arms about.

No, Some people knock it due to simple fact we dont want it. I find the PS Eye as useless aswell i only have one of them as the wife uses it for zumba other wise id not bother myself.

In reality we arent though, its more the uses of it rather than the technology itself (its best uses are still connected to a PC/robot for non-gaming). However you want to spin it the first Kinect sold very well yet still hasnt made any innovative impact into mainstream games.

The real telling thing is how embarrassed MS appear to be when it comes to gaming and Kinect, I dont think they showcased a single gaming feature using Kinect at E3 during their presentation, yet quite happily showed off Smartglass several times during mainstream game showcases. Its all well and good forcing your customer base into buying an accessory, at least show them why they need it or more importantly why you think theyll be stupid not to have it.

Post E3 all Ive seen Kinect used for in games time and time again, is a glorified microphone with voice recognition, which seems overly expensive if thats all its going to be tasked with, especially when the real tech is within the camera sensors. I think Forzas the only thing that really is better with Kinect (actually Id say essential if you are using cockpit view) if they get head tracking right - its things like this that make me look at Sony and think when you bring out a GT7 on the PS4 you better have this too!

So theres the main reason why I think people frown on Kinect, all we hear is the same potential that we heard years ago when the first Kinect was announced. I dont understand why MS havent done much more with it so when the XO came out it was a bonus Kinect came with it (especially with how much its cost to make) and why they utilised first party studios into only making Kinect games rather than pursue uses for it within mainstream games especially now they force us to pay for it upfront. They seem more than willing to throw money to obtain third party exclusives like Titanfall, why couldnt they throw money at them and say make Kinect essential, make it the decider?

Worse thing that happened to Kinect and the XO is that MS makes it IMHO. Kinect is quite quickly becoming an accessory that really has very little to offer games that we want to play, I dont think its developers/gamers fault if they arent buying into that, it was MSs responsibility nearly 3 years ago to ensure by the time the XO came out we were...

Just PS4 for me still, been happy with each sony console for a long time and already like the look of the games that are coming for it.

If I was going to get the x1, it'd be much later in it's life time. Both the xbox and 360 left me dissapointed in the later part of their lives and I just stopped playing them as nothing interested me that came out for it. So this round as far as msoft is concerned, I will wait and see.

I've pre-ordered the XB1. I will most likely get a PS4 at some point but the XB1 has won me over.

I love using voice commands on my 360 Kinect so and improved version that should be implemented more as it come with every XB1 is the logical choice for me. I play my 360 more than my PS3.

With cross platform games the only game I prefer on the PS3 is FIFA.

We dont want motion gaming at all. The day gaming goes all motion is the day i stop playing games completely

I don't think gaming will ever go fully motion, but I do think there are potential benefits to Kinect. As Pseudo said above though, all we've ever heard is the potential of a device like Kinect. Until some developer finds a truly great use for it in a game, that others then copy, it'll only ever be an add-on at best.

Just can't get away from the fact the ps4 is cheaper and much more powerful. As much as I enjoy the xbox experience its a no brainer really.

Assuming that both consoles go on sale around the same time in November/December, it'll be interesting to see what the pricing strategies will be pre and post Xmas.
