I'm thinking of cancelling my PS4 order and sticking with just the Xbox one and see how things go for PS4. There is just nothing that really interests me coming out on PS4 other than Killzone and even that just looks more of the same.

Most of the good PS4 games look to be out in 2014. Probably best to get one then

Best of both worlds assuming budget allows seems to be XBOX One for launch with it's (for me) better exclusives/launch line up and a PS4 in a couple of years once prices drop substantially and any advantage in power for the PS4 becomes more noticeable. Coming with FIFA has largely removed the price differential at launch (assuming you want to pay FIFA) and of course you get a Kinect which arguably love it or loath it makes up for the difference, in particular if you would have bought the PS4 camera.

Any innovation on either platform during that time could change things though.

I think people are really underestimating the lineup PS4 is gonna have within the first year. There are still lots of unannounced first party games to come. Naughty dog is going to turn heads for example

MS' cloud system/tech... Is it all just marketing BS?
Initialy I suspect it will be limited to matchmaking/dedicated servers and Forza "driveatar" type stuff. Massively distributed cloud compute (on whatever platform) longer term has the potential to be a real game changer used correctly (i.e. for non time sensitive calculations, pre rendering, volumetric/Physix type calculations etc).

I dunno, it's very difficult to make any kind of judgement based on mythical "unannounced" apps or even anything naughty dog may or may not produce until they are seen. They could be great or equally could be of no interest/pants. If you're spending a substantial amount of money I think going with what you can see rather than rumours of rumours makes more sense.

Yeah, I'm starting to feel like the Xbone has the better line-up of games announced so far.

I'm still planning on getting both at launch if finances allow but at the moment if I had to choose it would be an XBone. And that's coming from someone who was only planning on buying a PS4! The games line-up has made me change my mind :)

Unless you are a huge KillZone fan then I think it's hard to argue that the XB1 launch line up isn't better. I'll get a PS4 at launch but there's nothing for it that has me that excited until next year and I'm getting one early only because the price is unlikely to drop so I might as well get one whilst the missus has given me a free pass to buy both.

For me XB1 wins on games and the controller which are probably the two most important things for me. The multimedia stuff has no real interest to me and whilst I prefer the PS4 interface and Sony's attitude to gamers, that doesn't actually matter much without games I want to play.

It's been said before but I'll have to say it again.
Pre-ordered the Xbox One, picking it up on day one. The PS4's launch line-up (which for me is the entire first year) just doesn't stack up the the Xbox One's for me.
Although it has to be said that a lot of the games I'm excited for a cross-platform so it comes down to personal preference.
And I'll be getting a PS4 maybe in a years time or when Naughty Dog bring out another great exclusive :)

If nothing changes until release and they both get released around the same time im going to really struggle to make my mind up on what i want.

Games i enjoy are virtually multiplat so thats no issue. Controller goes to Xbox, Online services seems to goto Xbox due to preference and havin used the 360 controller as my main for years, interface and power seems to go in favour of the PS4, headsets wont require an adapter on PS4, the PS4 controller has a built in charger and you have to pay seperatly for the Xbox's, its still cheaper than the Xbox but its asthough you get "more for your money" now with Xbox due to FIFA being thrown in. Kinnect or the Eye i have no care for, the Media stuff on the Xbox i have no care for and another main reason im starting to think Xbox again is because i've used a 360 for 6 years and its potentially just as easy to stick although i feel a new console and feeling would be more exciting. Another concern i have is how developers, youtubers etc are pretty much only acknowledging the Xbox One as though its the best console hands down and thats all there going to use, most of them have got to have been paid by M$ i.e EA/Activision but in reality there so close i really dont know. I also wont be buying 2 consoles because for me its not cost effective especially since both require online and exclusives dont bother me.

So basically in terms of things i care about

Controller
Online services (cloud, dedicated servers)
Familularity

Power
interface
cheaper
Better firm to there customers
PS+ seems better value than XBL

I'm also wondering this....I know there are a number of people that have a pre-order down for both next-gen consoles but how many people are going to have a next-gen and current-gen set up? (ie I'm keeping my PS3 and replacing my 360 with an Xbox One)

I'll have my 360, PS3 and PS4 set-up for a little while, there's still some games on the 360 I need to play (mainly XBLA stuff) and I'll have my PS3 for GTA5 and the various PS+ games I haven't even started on yet. The 360 will likely be the first to go back in its box though.

Thats a lot of space around your TV your gonna need although saying that my 360 might have to stay set up for GTA V :)

I'm not to fussed about launch titles , most games I will get are multi plat anyway at launch like BF4 and Watchdogs.

I'm looking ahead with the likes of Infamous second son.

I've currently got two Xbox 360s, one downstairs (a 250GB S console) and the other upstairs connected to my 2nd monitor (an original white console). When the Xbox One comes it'll either join the other Xbox 360 under the TV, or I'll move the main Xbox 360 upstairs and replace the one that's there (as the vast majority of my saves are on the main console that's downstairs). Not decided what to do yet as I will definitely keep playing the Xbox 360 for a while yet, especially with Dark Souls 2 due next year, but I know with a new console it won't get used anywhere near that much, so it could easily be relegated upstairs for use when the wife wants the TV.

I'm in the 'neither' camp for launch. There's so much I've yet to play on PS3/360 that it's just ridiculous and there are still a good few games I want on the current gen that I've not played or are not out yet (GTA:V, Beyond: Two Souls, Lightning Returns etc). I will keep my PS+ sub going and nab stuff as they come out (wondering if I'll be able to nab PS4 stuff like I can with Vita?).

Anyway it's going to painful watching you all discuss what wonderful things you are experiencing on the next gen and I'm sure I'll cave pretty quickly, but for the time being at least, I will sit it out and see how it all pans out. :)
