It's more the stick layout rather than the pad size, never even had a problem swapping between the pad sizes on the original xbox.
Fancy a change more than anything as the MS money grabbing is almost beyond a joke and every game seems to have a number after it these days. There seem to be a couple of new IP's on the ONE but I don't trust MS not to slip into sequelitis after the first year whilst charging you to use services that you have already paid for by requiring a live subscription.
Also looking forward to finally catching up with ni no kuni hopefully via gaikai unless I get around to buying a PS3 at some point before then.

I've always had xbox's but I'm not a fanboy so my next console will be the PS4 because it's the better console.

I must be missing something, I thought that's exactly what was meant, i.e. buying second hand games from friend or game etc. Dunno, maybe I'm being thick :)

I thought that was what you couldn't do? Just pick up a game from the bay or a shop

I was a big Xbox 360 fan and rated it over my PS3, but Microsoft's Xbox One strategy just seems at odds with what I want from a console.

It'll be a PS4 for me if I buy one, at least as a primary console.

Same here!

I wonder if we need another poll asking "Why would you rather get a PS4 than an XBO?". Surely it is not just used games and online requirements making it so one-sided!

Seriously, don't most of us have our consoles permanently connected to the net anyway?!

And it's not like everyone whinges about Steam not allowing second hand game purchases :p
Ill take a swing at that semi-question, lets be honest very few of us here are in a position where the MS policies really affect us significantly so we could find them more than tenable to live with.

So there are going be some where the PS4 catalogue just looks better and same with the XO catalogue. I think the remainder that are still after the PS4 then fall either into the group where they over-estimate the difficulty of working with the MS policies (so a few of these are going to be fanbois :p), but I think the vast majority are just driven by their social conscience that they appreciate that those MS policies might either have a direct bearing on others or that those same policies may lead to an acceptance of far more extensive restriction like control moving to platform holders/publishers (its not hard to see those policies leading to additional control) being employed either within this generation or the next. Basically its a slippery slope...

A nice example is the moving goalposts of pay for play online, it was quite the hot fanboi topic with PS3 and X360, but because MS have brought out additional policies its allowed Sony to quite quietly move to this model (albeit with some additional benefits) purely because of what they arent doing. Its a significant move, but no ones really batted an eyelid...

I personally think even if such policies dont directly affect you, its always worth voting with your wallet as ultimately if you just keep allowing such concessions you quite quickly end up in a place that you never wanted in the first place and unfortunately its your own fault for inaction.

selected retailers, who basically can check\remove the game from your account.

Pricing wise, i have no clue about. but it does limit where you'll pick up the used games.

Ebay seems unlikely, you'd be trusting a seller to be selling a game in a released state. You could essentially buy a disk from ebay, that is linked or already sold on.

Doesn't sound like a situation where you can pick up newish games for cheap to me. It's ok on steam as you can pick up games for that in the sales

Yeah eBay etc is going to be a no go

It is for me. It barely even effects me but I just can't stand losing liberties we've had for the past 40 odd years.

Sounds about right, MS blurb below...

Give your games to friends: Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends.

Trade-in and resell your disc-based games: Today, some gamers choose to sell their old disc-based games back for cash and credit. We designed Xbox One so game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers.

Third party publishers may opt in or out of supporting game resale and may set up business terms or transfer fees with retailers. Microsoft does not receive any compensation as part of this. In addition, third party publishers can enable you to give games to friends. Loaning or renting games won’t be available at launch, but we are exploring the possibilities with our partners

**Edit** I should say I'm not saying it's good, just that it's not a case of no second hand games or ability to give / sell games to friends

It creates an instant monopoly on resale games for those that get "participating retailer" status. Basically resale games will be very slightly cheaper.

Also publishers can disable resale of any game through opting out with Microsoft.

PS4 EASILY!!

Im a little saddened though as i was thinking of jumping on the xbox side of the bed this time round but Sony have just made it such an easy decision to make, well that and the attitude Microsoft have shown to its potential buyers...

I'll get a PS4 in 2 or 3 years when they cost around £199.

Will be shame not being able to play Forza, and I will have to get used to the ps4 style of controller.

What more worries me isnt the ability to buy second hand games, but with this new system and those additional fees, who is going to buy my game when I want to sell it and what kind of market value will it get if when its resold?

The next owner has to consider the fees to add on top of the game cost in the shop which ultimately has to be less than new and if the shop isnt getting all the profit like they are now, what incentive is there to give me a decent price for the game I want to sell?

Could just work out its not even worth reselling...
