Who has right of way in this mini-roundabout situation?

You are all mad if you assume you or someone else has priority based on what you think other drivers *might* do, especially at a mini roundabout. With a stalemate like this, it simply needs some to take the initiative and go first (carefully watching the other drivers) and the situation is quickly resolved.

It's not a stalement if its only 2 cars. Right side goes first. There is no stalemate.

Is it me or is this all too logical?

Yeah I think the OP is overcomplicating things.

In the 2 car example there is no doubt, if it's a 'stand-off' situation, green car goes before yellow. Sure yellow is allowed to go if they don't impede green in any way, but once it's reached 'stand-off' situation, then green should be the car to move first. If green sits like an idiot, then yellow proceeds with caution, because green is clearly an idiot driver.

In the 3-car situation it's a bit more ambiguous.

Some people in here are suggesting that the green car has right of way because it intends to turn right. Since when did intention trump position in a right of way situations?

Using that logic, if the yellow car was indicating right then the two cars would be once again be stuck there in perpetuity.

There's even two mods in this thread who have opposing views and my mother told me that mods are always right. So I'm going to continue driving as I was and constantly have accidents on mini roundabouts.

Wow.

It's so INSANELY simple. The green car has right of way. It doesn't matter that the car is opposite, it's the fact that it's anti-clockwise round the roundabout.

Threads like this make me sad.

Neither car has right of way in that case, as they're both equally to the right of each other. there is nothing stopping the car on the right doing a 180 turn. Just comes down to each drivers judgement based on each cars speed as to whether they will impede the other vehicle by proceeding onto the roundabout.

This is so incorrect.

Forget intentions.

My attitude is take other drivers on the road as idiots, as people make mistakes, they could indicate to turn right but go straight on or vice versa or not indicate. I do not assume what they are going to do until they do it. Hence if you are the yellow car then the green car has right of way anyway, he is on your immediate right side, green car's immediate right side is empty, so green has right of way. Think of a circle, like a roundabout, you know, since you are on one, and not as a straight line junction.

At a roundabout, right side has right of way.

Let the green car goes first and makes its move, if it exits on yellow car's road then go, if not then follow.

For god's sake, it is not complicated. Right side has right of way!

Ok. People are getting upset. I'll always give way to green car and if I am the green car, I'll go.

But one more question before I go. Who has right of way here?

Green car has right of way, the yellow car should stop, although if it was travelling at a reasonable speed it would make it across the roundabout as the green car is about to turn.

I drive that roundabout every morning. You're supposed to treat each mini roundabout the same as a big roundabout, i.e. give way to the right. The strange thing about the magic roundabout is that you can go anti-clockwise and clockwise around it.

Neither car has priority!, they're both directly opposite each other on the roundabout - ie, they're both on the other car's right.

It's not about being direct to one and other, if the road bends a little, then what?

It's a roundabout, think of it as a 12, 4 and 8 o'clock entry instead and take the principle from that.

the only car thats on the GREEN cars right is the ORANGE car. The YELLOW is on its LEFT.

So many people should have failed there tests it seems :(

Of course it's about being directly opposite each other, if the entries weren't directly opposite each other then yes, one car would be on the right of the other and the car would give way if he would end up impeding the car coming from the right. But in this case, both cars, if they enter the roundabout at the same time are equally to the right of each other.

Look at the pic, now turn it round 180 degrees. The cars are now in the positon that the other car was in before you turned it round...

/bangs head on table.

Green car is on the first exit to the right of the yellow, yellow car isn't on the first exit to the right of the green car, so I would see it that the green car has right of way.

In normal circumstance though, I would expect (and prepare myself) for both cars to enter the roundabout at the same time, as that's more than likely what will actually happen, whether or not it is what should happen.

Green would still have the right of way because its turning RIGHT across the yellows cars path, and since he on a mini roundabout coming from the RIGHT, the yellow car has to give way;).

*IF* this was a 4 way junction, and both cars was turning right you may have issues like this thread, but it is SO shocking that some people just aren't getting it. Good job we don't have retests or half of you wont have a licence.
